Scoring Winger

The remains of Frances made my roof leak 2 days ago, and now my coat closet has mold growing in it. I saw where parts North Carolina got flooded pretty bad. And, of course, there is everyone in Florida and the Carribean that get the worst.
I can't imagine being in the path of one of those. This year has been pretty horrible for them.

Looks like another hurricane is headed. I can't tell if this is supposed to be worse, the adjectives seem worse but who knows.

From what I've said, sounds like it's going to be absolutely devestating as it crosses through the caribbean, but it's too early to say how strong it's going to be by the time it hits Florida. Most predictions seem to think it will be a Class 4 (currently it's a 5) when it hits the Keys.

What were the previous 2's class?

Well, Frances was a class 4, but weakened before it made landfall and I believe ended up hitting as a class 2. But it was huge and the hurricane force winds were spread in something like an 185 mile radius...which is just amazing.
Charley hit as a class 3, but was also a class 4 at one time. However, it was a much smaller hurricane so the hurricane force winds weren't over such a widespread area.
Hopefully this one will calm down before it makes landfall as well.
My sister lives in Orlando...they got hammered pretty good by Charley, but Frances didn't do a whole lot around them. I hope they can avoid Ivan alotgether.

Man, is this a bad hurricane season or is it just me? Why would you want to live in Florida after this?

No, but if Ivan hits Florida, it will be ridiculous. Never before had they been hit by 2 hurricanes of this magnitude in 1 year, let alone 3.

Although deadly, beautiful all the same . . . . . and looks just like a picture of a large Galaxy.
Physics I guess.

That BIG picture of Ivan makes me wonder...
The cloud system associated with a hurricane appears to be huge, already touching much of the Dominican Republic...but the "hurricane-force winds" aren't affecting them. How wide is the danger area, really?

Man was never meant to own mansions built 2 metres above sea level or to own million dollar yachts. Time to go back to bamboo huts and dugout canoes...if a hurricane destroys those, you re-build 'em in a week
Sorry for the consecutive posts...just had to say something that conveys my sense of how ridiculous civilization has become.
