Bloc warns against letting 'Calgary' control Quebec's future
So...who are the intolerant ones?
Why use the term Calgary and not Harper?
Quote:
"We're just telling Quebecers that the interests of Calgary are defended by the Conservative Party," Duceppe said.
"When they're talking about not respecting Kyoto and making Quebec pay for the rich oil companies, that doesn't serve Quebec's interests but it does help the interests in the West, for sure."
|
Unbelievable. How long has "Quebec" represented Calgary in Ottawa??

What's wrong Duceppe... Don't want Quebec to lose the free handouts?

On CBC radio 1 last week, they had an American from a libertarian think tank on talking about the election, and he actually described Harper as being a Calgary styled conservative. So for whatever reason, Calgary has become Canada's version of Texas. Like when people in the U.S. talk about "Texas Republicans".

If a politician from Calgary said "we won't let Montreal decide what's best for Alberta", would you consider that intolerant? I wouldn't. If it came from a separatist (such as an Albertan version of Duceppe), it's just common sense that he would feel that way.

Funny how Harper isn't even from Calgary, he's a Toronto-raised Maritimer!

Things like this are why I want Canada to fall apart.
Quebec would sink like a stone.
Hey, we're the enemy of English Canada already, what took French Canada so long?

That doesn't really make sense.
This is really a non-issue. I don't understand why anyone would be offended by the ad or consider it intolerant. Of course they feel that way. They don't want Quebec run by Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, Regina, Sicamous or Rosthern. We already knew that. He is a separatist after all.

Oh, that's rich. Like the multitudes of people on this board never use the term "Ontario" in that same context.

If Calgary is so evil, why suckle off of our teat, Gilles? That Quebec supports Canada stuff has to stop too, its just beyond logic and fact. Everyone who can click a mouse or flip a book can tell you Quebec is a recipient, not a contributor.
Does he not realize that Alberta taxpayers and Oil Royalties are why Canada has a surplus and why Quebec is keeping afloat despite incompetent policies?

He more than likely does, but he is continuing the big lie that separatists tell Quebecers. They are holding Canada up. Canada is leeching off of them.
In Quebec they have created a myth about themselves that they teach to their children. Eerily similar to NAzi-germany's Aryan myth. Everything is Canada's fault and if only they could get out from benieth the yoke of English Canada they will become a great nation.
He wants a separate nation and he'll lie, cheat and steal to get it.

Well, on the point of describing Harper as a "Calgary-Style" Conservative - that's actually completely accurate. Harper was raised here and his closest cadre of advisors and close confidants are his "Calgary group" of various individuals, many of them from the University of Calgary.

It's like that other poster said in another thread, his friends from Quebec grew up thinking the rest of Canada hated them...until they left Quebec.

It'd be fun to show up in Quebec City on Tuesday in full cowboy gear, and start ordering random people around.

Apart from it is actually true the other way around.
Ontario has the seats in the house of commons to win a victory for pretty much any party. "Calgary" Does not.

It's not just Gilles Duceppe playing the Alberta card.
In the final week of the election campaign Paul Martin told Maritimers that Harper and his Calgary advisors would not be a good thing for Atlantic Canada.
Labor comrade Buzz Hargrove said the rest of Canada does not share Alberta's individualistic and selfish attitudes.
Yes Alberta has become "Canada's Texas" in this election campaign.
Damn we're scary!

Here I thought he didn't want Quebec run by Conservatives.
Calgary runs the country if Harper wins?? Sure it does.
This is a potshot at all Calgarians, and I cant believe you dont see it that way, but each to their own.
I guess it's OK for me to espouse as a displaced Calgarian then...
Quebec sucks, they dont deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the word Canada, the people who live their aren't looking out for anything but themselves and THEY ARE ALL THE SAME.
Wouldn't that be about the same thing?
