Oil go five in a row with a 2-1 victory over Bruins.
Once again the oil got the boring road in gear lolling the Bruins to sleep with our dump and chase philosophy. The last meeting between last years Stanley Cup finalists saw Kolzig as the game star in a 4 – 1 Bruins win, tonight it was Brodeur grabbing the game star and the victory.
Hossa recorded his thirty-third on the season and Samsonov nets the winner notching his thirty-second. Joel Andresen did suit up once again; playing eight minutes against the Stanley cup champs and created a good scoring opportunity late in the third when his quick shot caught Kolzig off guard, producing a huge rebound for Jeff Carter.
The Oil flew out of Boston immediately following the game to get home and prepare for the Islanders tomorrow night for our fourth game in as many nights.

Poor Mikael Tellqvist got his ass handed to him tonight, and the Caps were the ones handing it to him. Nice PK guys, you held them to a 5 for 8 night. Oh well, at least we went 0 for 8 on the job. Things got a bit chippy in the last two frames it appears with several penalties on each team. I guess we don't have a complete lack of pride.

GOOD NEWS!! HAWKS DON"T LOSE
BAD NEWS!!! HAWKS DON'T WIN
Eddie was given another chance in net. It soon became apparent that his water bottle had been spiked with his favorite cough medicine.
Now it appears to be the all the rage in the CPHL as other goalies have tried the recipe. Florida's Nabby used it tonight, as did Islander goalie Tomas Vokoun and poor innocent Duck Roberto Luongo! It is unclear whether Bolts tender Garon was partaking of the cough medicine, or if he just really sucks.
Tomorrow the Hawks host the Kings. We would like to have a new team

Devils lose 6-4. Apparently while on IR Mike Dunham learned how to suck at goal. Mike Morrison and Jani Hurme may just re-appear as they at least played decent. Yuck, yuck, and yuck is what we have to say. The Martin Division has owned our ass this year.

VYBORNY'S LATE GOAL SALVAGES TIE

David Vyborny (left) corrals a loose puck late in the third period of Tuesday
night's match against the Chicago Blackhawks. Moments later, Vyborny
would tie the game beating Michael Leighton with a high shot towards the
open cage.
UNIONDALE, NY - David Vyborny's 16th of the season on the powerplay with under two minutes remaining helped the Islanders salvage a point with the visiting Blackhawks in a 6-6 barn burner Tuesday night.
After holding a closed door meeting between players exclusively Sunday night after dropping a 5-1 affair versus the Nashville Predators, the Islanders rebounded Tuesday night firing 37 shots on total compared to their 11 last game, and even added some late game heroics to the storyline as David Vyborny's individual effort paid off tieing the game before the third period buzzer would sound two minutes later.
After winning the draw and pulling the puck back to his defender Brad Stuart, Jussi Jokinen circled back behind his net where Stuart left the puck for him but rather than clear the puck out of the zone while shorthanded, Jokinen attempted to stickhandle past a forechecking Vyborny who lifted the stick of the Chicago forward, stole the puck in the process and fired a quick shot into the open net with Leighton sliding in the wrong direction.
The unassisted goal drew the Islanders even at 18:01 and resulted in the game going to overtime where nothing was solved.
After Sunday's match where they were convincingly outmatched in every aspect of the game, the Islanders came out firing Tuesday night firing 13 shots on Chicago netminder Ed Belfour in the first twenty minutes jumping out to a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Mark Parrish (25) and Paul Kariya (23).
Kariya's second of the game in the second period would vault the Isles up by a pair as the new Islander took a perfect pass from teammate Danil Markov and beat Belfour with a sneaky shot through the goaltender's legs.
Jan Hrdina quickly replied for the Hawks less than 20 seconds later however, rifling a hot shot past Tomas Vokoun and Niko Kapanen would even the score before period's end jamming in a loose puck in the New York crease.
The third period would see six goals in total as each team would answer, exchanging goals for the final twenty minutes one after another. Alexander Mogilny (21), Brendan Morrison (16), and Jussi Jokinen (12) scored for Chicago, while Oleg Tverdovsky (7), Denis Arkhipov (17), and David Vyborny (16) would reply for the Islanders.
The Islanders finished the night with a 50% success rating on the powerplay going 1 for 2 on the night, while the Hawks failed to score with the man advantage going 0 for 2.
The Isles departed immediately following the game to Edmonton, Alberta as they prepare to face off against the Howe Conference leading Edmonton Oilers tomorrow evening.
Game Notes - Paul Kariya was named the game's first star for his 2 goal, 1 assist performance... Kariya had an astounding 33 minutes of icetime and fired an unbelievable 11 shots in the game... Two other Islanders also saw 30+ minutes on Tuesday as both Chris Drury and Danil Markov each topped the 32 minute mark... Last season's team-nominated "Unsung Hero", Jaroslav Bednar made his return to Uniondale, playing just under 10 minutes but failed to register any points.

Legace only made 19 saves on 22 shots.

Lineup changes will be in effect, roster changes could be coming.
Back home to complete the 2 game series vs the Leafs.

Senators rebound from the loss to the Sharks with a win vs the Yotes. Turco provided his usualy solid Goaltending turning aside 30 of 31 shots.
The Sens fell behind in the first 1-0 when Marleau scored a great goal on Turco. But the Senators rebounded in the second when Captian Joe Sakic scored his 25th goal of the year. This was followed up by Fisher who scored his 15th goal. Fisher has fast become one of our top Scorers of late. Having scored the bulk of his goals since moving to second line.
Pronger scored his 7th of the year in the 3rd as the Senators iced the win. Next up a game vs the Stars.

Flyers 2 Flames 1
The Calgary Flames, all high and mighty..or so they think, got taught that you cant take any team for granted in the CPHL.
Flames woke up wednesday morning and realized that they had just been shown that you have to show up for 60 minutes to win a hockey game.
Cudos to the Flyers for showing the Flames how to play hockey.
Nobody but Richard Zednick showed up for this game, making him by far the most important recent acquisition by the Flames. "Seems like Zeds wants some first line ice time and thats exactly what he is going to get", said GM Axmann. The next game is against the Lightening, another team that has just dropped a highly rated team in the Pens.
Zednick had this to say, "We have to take it one game at a time. I'm just here to do this best I can and hope I can help the team win. Lord willing, all things will work out good if we do all the right things".
After the Lightening, the Flames take on that Mickey Mouse organization in Jersey! Maybe Sylvanfan can talk Gretzky into coming out of retirement for that game.
Goalie Statistics
Miikka Kiprusoff (FLA), 17 saves out of 19 shots, L, 21-9-6
Ilja Bryzgalov (FLY), 24 saves out of 25 shots, W, 2-6-3
Power Play Conversions
FLAMES 0 for 4
FLYERS 0 for 3
Game Stars None to speak of!!!!

Win is Sweet as Taffe-y
Capitals continued their hot play on Tuesday by disposing of the Dallas Stars by a 6-1 Margin. The NHL's hottest team in the last month was paced by a 5pt performance (5 assists) by Jeff Taffe. The hot and cold Taffe seems to be heating up just in time for the Capitals to continue their solid play. Nathan Horton turned in a solid effort as well with two goals and an assist.
This game also marked the arrival of something sorely lacking all season. A powerplay and PK. The Capitals went 5/8 on Man advantage and 100% on the PK.
The Capitals have gone 13-2-3 in their last 18 games, garnering 29 of a possible 36 pts over that span. The Capitals hope to continue their movement up the standings with a win tonite against the Sharks.

Or does it
Sabres 3 Jackets 2
Sabres badly outshoot and outplay the Jackets. The new first line of Smolinski-Prospal-Palffy dominates. Then Palffy retires and 3rd star Lubo Visnovsky the Sabres top dman gets hurt
