Three takeaways as Wolf bounces back to lead Flames to win over Wild

Among Thursday’s highlights, Dustin Wolf delivered 26 saves and Jonathan Huberdeau snapped out of a 14-game goal drought.

Stars and Maple Leafs Showing Strong Interest in Flames Veteran Blake Coleman

Interest in Coleman is climbing across the league as teams search for alternatives to Calgary’s higher-priced veterans. His championship résumé, versatility, and leadership presence make him a logical target for contenders preparing for the postseason stretch.

Calgary Flames Prospect Update: William Stromgren making his case for a call up

Stromgren has played a solid top-six role for the Calgary Wranglers this season, and is on track for a breakout season in the AHL. If the momentum continues, it’s likely Flames fans could see the prospect in a handful of games this season.

The Farm Report - 05.12.25

Hunter Brzustewicz has come roaring into his second pro season, leading all Wranglers defencemen with 12 points (4g, 8a) after an ankle injury knocked him out during the playoffs last year.

The 2023 third-round pick of the Vancouver Canucks, acquired by the Flames in the Elias Lindholm trade on Jan. 31, 2024, looks every bit like a young blueliner on the rise.

5 Flames trade candidates people aren’t talking about

There has been a lot made recently about the direction of the Calgary Flames after Don Maloney spoke to the media over the last couple weeks.
Maloney was adamant that the Flames will not throw in the towel on this season and that they have no plans to trade Nazem Kadri, which is a short sighted, slightly delusional take for a team that has missed the playoffs three years in a row and is currently in 31st in the NHL standings.
But I go back to the old adage “actions speak louder than words.”

Vejmelka Delivers in Utah’s 4-1 Win Over Vancouver

The Utah Mammoth withstood momentum swings and delivered a solid performance with a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks. Utah’s goaltender Karel Vejmelka stood strong in net with timely saves. His performance held Vancouver to one goal.

“Really good job by (Vejmelka),” head coach André Tourigny said after the win. “Power play (came up) with a big goal at (a) key moment. I like our battle around the net. They put a lot of pucks at the net, and they put (up) a fight in the blue paint, but we battled really hard and our goalie (stood) tall, but we were hard around the net. We were hard in our battle; I like that a lot.”

Huge game.

A loss keeps them on track to help correct the continued woes of the forever mushy middle.

A win drives them closer to their comfort zone in that mushy middle of irrelevancy.

No mushy middle. It’s a great day for a Flames loss.

Hope to be wrong but i think Vancouver and Nashville will be bottom 2. Canucks are quite injured, both teams are going to sell. Even if we do sell, Wolf will not be as bad as he has been, l feel last game is his turning point of the year...

I have a bad feeling we are about to go on a bit of a run. The schedule is much easier now.

Trap game for Utah - they played last night, and they wrap up their road trip against Calgary. However, Utah seems to have Calgary's number. Tough one to call. Just hope it is entertaining!

Fansfirst has second deck middle tickets for $50 on a Saturday night. Tough time to be a ticket broker.

The reason for the earlier start time is due to their being two HNIC games at 2000h (Jets-Oilers and Canucks-Wild). Sportsnet HNIC will do three or four games at 1700h, but, two maximum at 2000h. That should be changed as the later start time for western teams is better.
