Flames Calgary Flames at Carolina Hurricanes 3:00pm TV: SNW, FDSO - RADIO SN960

Previous Game and Stats

News Roundup

5 Things - Flames @ Hurricanes

Know Your Enemy

The Hurricanes opened Saturday's NHL slate as the highest-scoring team in the Eastern Conference with 85 goals for, five of which came Friday in a 5-1 win over the Jets at Lenovo Center. Winnipegger Seth Jarvis had a hat-trick for the hosts, who broke open a tied game with four goals in the final eight minutes and change of regulation time.

The win snapped a mini two-game skid for Carolina, pleasing Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour who stressed post-game that despite the two recent setbacks, his group has been doing things the right way.

"It alleviates a lot of stress," he told reporters after the win. "We’ve been playing well. We had one bad game in there, but the rest has been good hockey.

Confidence the key for both Hurricanes, Flames

The Carolina Hurricanes have found confidence in various ways at times this season, and that’s important to coach Rod Brind’Amour.

The Hurricanes will face a team riding its own form of confidence when the visiting Calgary Flames take the ice in Raleigh, N.C.

Beyond the Boxscore: Flames bounce back after early deficit in 5-3 win over the Panthers

It’s a Team Game – This game was full of back-and-forth momentum moments where both teams got their chances. The first period, even though it was tied when it ended, saw the Panthers dominate scoring chances. Devin Cooley had to stand on his toes and be ready for anything, especially after two early goals against.

Flames prospect Eric Jamieson a surprise sniper as NCAA rookie

With five goals since enrolling at the University of Denver, Calgary-raised Eric Jamieson leads all freshman defencemen in that stat category.

Three takeaways as Kuznetsov’s first goal cues Flames to comeback win over Panthers

Rookie blue-liner Yan Kuznetsov turned the momentum with his first big-league bury, while Kadri contributed a goal and two assists and Weegar, Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee also found the back of the net in Florida.

Yan Kuznetsov has brought stability to MacKenzie Weegar and the entire Flames blueline

Since the Flames traded Chris Tanev two years ago, Weegar hasn’t had a steady defensive partner. Last season, he rotated through Daniil Miromanov, Tyson Barrie and Jake Bean before settling in with Joel Hanley down the stretch. This year has been more of the same. Through just 25 games, he has already played with several partners. He opened the season with Hanley, but after a rough start the pairings were shuffled. Since then, he has skated with Bean, Brayden Pachal, Zayne Parekh and, most recently, Yan Kuznetsov — his longest stint with any player so far.

Dustin Wolf’s rough start to the season is nothing new for second-year netminder

There tends to be a prevailing theme amongst goalies that are become finalists for the Calder Trophy.
Historic figures show that seventh-round picks tend not to make the National Hockey League, but Dustin Wolf is a rare exception. Drafted 214th overall in the 2019 draft, Wolf made 18 starts between 2022-23 and 2023-24, before entering the 2024-25 season as a rookie.
It was a terrific season for the then 23-year-old, posting a .910 save percentage and 2.64 goals against average in 53 games, compiling a 29-16-8 record.

All three Flame college players have improved their points per game since that tweet.

And Reschny up to 15 points in 14 games now for 1.07 PPG
Potter up to 0.875 PPG
Wyttenbach up to 1.375 PPG

Good to see the team putting up some goals and getting solid back up goaltending. Now let’s get Wolf rolling the way everyone knows he’s capable. Go Flames!

Have a feeling that this one could get ugly. But they usually win when I think that. So I have no idea.

A win would give them a 3-1 road trip, which would be pretty impressive.

I've had a Roku attached to my 16 year old TV for using streaming services and apps. Apparently Roku is just the worst to develop for, consequently the Sportsnet+ app was never released on Roku. So to watch games on my TV, I would have to play them on my PC, mirror my PC screen to the TV through the Roku, and hope the WiFi stayed stable enough to allow me to watch most of the game.

With a new 4K Samsung TV, I've been able to install Sportsnet+ directly on it -- no more need for the Roku. And the TV is connected to the network over LAN. So I'm excited for a better viewing experience this afternoon! I'll be curious to see how much Sportsnet+ buffers and crashes despite a LAN connection.

It’s just the worst app out there. I’m curious about getting SN+ through Amazon prime and if that runs better. Sportsnet app is awful on every TV I have owned

I'm predicting in typical Huska fashion we are not ready to start on time. You are not winning many games like that.

In typical Huska fashion he makes great intermission adjustments and leads the boys to victory.

Pretty interesting anthems. Mangled the Canadian melody and the American lyrics.
