Weegar should take a few days off.

Well that was the best performance they've put on this year, so it makes sense not to touch the lines.

Kerins was dangerous and made a couple of great set ups for Kadri.

Replace him with Brz. You probably wouldn't be worse off.

That's to say Weegar has been a shell of himself this season. Last year he was a legit top defenseman in the league. This year he's lost.

And it seems the harder he tries to make a difference, the worse he plays.

That's what I mean. I think he'd benefit from taking a step back & try to reset.

I'll be the first to admit that it's quite clear that Weegar has tried to do to far to much himself at times this year, but we need to cut the guy some slack.

He leads all NHL defensemen in five on five defensive zone starts and has done so playing next to complete tweeners in Hanley, Bean and Kuznetsov. Despite this - he still routinely outshoots and outchances his opposition. No other top defender in the league is put into a worse spot than he is on a nightly basis.

He has also had arguably the worst "puck luck" in the NHL to date with a .900 PDO in all situations.

He had a very good game against SJ I thought. And that's a team that cheats offensively.

I was looking at the NHL stats and was surprised to see that the current league leader for both GAA and Save Percentage is Devin Cooley (minimum 5 GP).

Also, Vladar is currently 3rd in GAA and 4th in SV%.

Looks like preparing to build lines without Kadri. Let’s Huby and Frost an Coronato build chemistry.

Part of the problem is that Weegar is better on the left side which eludes the coach, insisting on a right shot equals you play right D binary. Much like Gulutzan with TJ Brodie back in the day, not recognizing that Brodie was a left handed dman better on the right.

I think it's more about finding lines that work.

Farabee - Kadri seems to work with just about anyone:
Farabee - Kadri - Kerins - 100xG%
Farabee - Kadri - Huberdeau - 84.6xG%
Farabee - Kadri - Klapka - 57.1xG%
Farabee - Kadri - Zary - 52.4xG%
Farabee - Kadri - Sharangovich- 45.5xG%

Backlund - Coleman worked the best with Honzek so far. Zary wasn't a fit. Coronato was a much better fit last year.
Honzek - Backlund - Coleman - 59.3xG%
Coronato - Backlund - Coleman - 46.2xG%
Zary - Backlund - Coleman - 27.3xG%

Huberdeau - Kadri worked well together, but not with Coronato:
Huberdeau - Kadri - Farabee - 84.6xG%
Huberdeau - Kadri - Frost - 55.6xG%
Huberdeau - Kadri - Coronato - 37.0xG%

4th line:
Lomberg - Kirkland - Klapka - 59.5xG%
Lomberg - Zary - Klapka - 47.4xG%
Lomberg - Sharangovich - Klapka - 33.3xG%

Other combinations:
Hubredeau - Frost - Coronato - 61.3xG%
Farabee - Sharangovich - Zary - 58.3xG%

What didn't work as well:
Farabee- Frost - Sharangovich - 42.9xG%
Gridin - Kadri - Coronato - 37.9xG%

This coincides pretty well with why Sharangovich, Zary, and Coronato were the healthy scratches, while Gridin was the one sent down. Now, Huska seemingly has 3 lines that are going.

I like Zary and Klapka as a pair. They've had some dangerous chances the past few games (mostly Klapka).

Weegar prefers the right side unlike Brodie. And according to people who've watched him here and Fla long term, he plays better on that side.

If you went by those numbers of who plays well together you could have these lines

Huberdeau-Frost-Coronato

Kerins-Kadri-Klapka

Honzek-Backlund-Coleman

Farabee-Sharongovich-Zary

i wouldn't mind if Sharkey took Lombo's spot for a game - it could be a more offensive 4th line.

I'll cut Weeger some slack because he's a proven vet who's been much better as recently as last year but we can't sugar coat how terrible he's been all season, right from game one. Blame his partners or bad luck but he's been making bone head plays all season long.
