The Wranglers have been building on their momentum after collecting 14 points in their last eight games

Instant Reaction: Flames attack runs dry against Chicago

The Calgary Flames did a few good things on Friday night when they hosted the Chicago Blackhawks. But they had some big systems breakdowns. And they couldn’t solve Spencer Knight.

Flames rookie blueliner Zayne Parekh leaves Friday’s game after hit from Nick Foligno

The Calgary Flames spent much of Friday night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks without the services of one of their most dynamic young players. Blueliner Zayne Parekh left the game early in the second period after taking a big hit along the boards from Chicago forward Nick Foligno.

Looking at that haircut (RIP Mel) what the Flames need is a Chad Powers type player to come in and help turn things around.

Pretty easy to predict a loss in this game.

If Bahl returns tonight, then I would actually like to keep Kuznetsov - Andersson, and play Bahl with Weegar.

Go Flames.

A nice hard regulation loss would seal their fate ideally to rebuild.

They are in year 3 of their rebuild.

Well I am. There is no benefit to winning. Hopefully we get a good showing from the young players and a few points for our trade bait but ultimately a loss.

You probably don’t have much to worry about in terms of cheering for losses. This roster is pretty bad, it was a miracle the coaching staff was able to get them close to the playoffs last year. Does not look like there will be a miracle two years in a row.

They’ll crush the stupid boring Wild.

Embarrassed by the last outing, and Weegar probably riled some Flames up.

Whoever the disgruntled players are, put that anger and energy into a win.

Or at least punch some faces like you mean it.

IDK, I think a rebuild starts with a top ten draft pick. That was probably the goal last season after the sell off. But Flames outperformed.

So I think we are one season into it.

Like last time, we lucked out having a late pick turn into a star. Last time Johnny, this time Wolf.

We still need to draft the Monahan, Bennett and Tkachuk equivalents. So this year is the first top pick and we will probably need a couple more.

Depending on how the last few years of drafted players works out, CC may still have to make some home run trades to round out the roster without using up all the team’s cap space.

Because of Huby and Yegor, it’s not quite a blank slate.

.
By that standard the rebuild started the year we drafted Parekh (23-24) which would put us in year 3 of the rebuild.

Haha! He was drafted in 24. We just passed the year mark.

I guess it depends on whether one considers the year you were bad enough to be the first year or the year after you were bad enough to be the first year of tj rebuild. Either way we are in year two or three of the rebuild now if a top 10 pick is the starting point.

I hope Huska stops trying to be baldy mastermind and puts obvious guys in obvious places.

Goal scorers on the top lines please. Roll four lines!

Huby - Kadri - Coronato
Zary - Frost - Sharangovich
Honzek - Backs - Coleman
Farabee - Kirkland - Kalpka

Coronato hat trick coming up!

The season that put them in that position would be part of the rebuild. And in that year the Flames played over their heads to even be at 9OA. Most were predicting a top 5 pick at the start of the year.
