McKenna Watch
Looks like Flames fans will want to keep a closer eye on the consensus #1 pick as this season goes along...
October 18th:
No points and two shots for McKenna as Penn State defeats LIU 3-0
6GP 1G 5A 6Pts

Perhaps we should broaden it out for stats and observations on some of the other top guys. A lot of attention, rightly so, on Mckenna but there are a number of really great prospects at the top of this year's draft.

May expand later to include other candidates like Roobroeck, Stenberg, Verhoeff, etc.

Focusing on 1 guy is setting up for disappointment, I'm more interested in the top 5 as a whole and how it stacks up vs. other years

Mostly a boon for people's morale during/after losses this year.
"2026 Draft Thread" doesn't have the same twinkle.

Oh for sure, let's have 15 threads to discuss 2026 draft eligible players. Start a couple more every time we lose a game.

The more the merrier!
I posted this before the other one that popped up tonight, so maybe give that thread some grief.

Mega threads are bunk, unless you’re terminally online it’s impossible to keep up with them and next to impossible to filter out the specific info you are interested in. There’s the draft as a whole, and then there’s the top end talent we seem to be trending towards acquiring. I see a place for both threads

Lol yeah these new threads about the top of the 2026 draft are just packed full of brand new information that would have been utterly lost in the 2026 draft thread.

This is a great year for Flames to be absolute ass. Please let it result in them getting their franchise first 1st overall pick. It's much overdue to have a bonified superstar forward from the jump.

You know what, he's right.
In fact, we should create a Pro Sports 2026 Draft Thread and leave it at that.
Why have threads for individual leagues? Too specific. The NHL draft can go in there.

Honest question, but a few years ago a lot of people were saying he was a generational talent in quality. Does that prediction still hold today? I have seen some posts saying he is more of a Patrick Kane level of talent now.
I know the term generational talent gets used pretty liberally if you go by strict definition of the word "generational", but I just mean in the tier sense. Is he projected still to live up to that level?

God forbid one of the twins goes down. I'm actually not sure they have the supporting cast this year to sustain that.

Good point. Bédard was seen as can’t miss generational talent. He’s not quite there and may not be. I’d be curious how scouts see McKenna as he transitions to the NHL.
