Default Knights 4 Flames 2

Knights 4 Flames 2

- Flames get out to a 2-0 lead on two Backlund line goals
- Vegas pushes in the second but the Flames recover and lead 2-1 thru 40
- Vegas with 2 third period goals to snatch the win
- Parekh takes a high hit
- Not a good night for Miromanov

Yeah, I'd like them to shake up pretty much every line outside of Honzek - Backlund - Coleman.

Give me some Zary - Kadri - Coronato, Huberdeau - Frost - Gridin (when H is back).

I felt Kadri dragged down his two young linemates to some degree last night.

Wasn't engaged.

He needs to play with guys that don't need the puck.

Pospisil - Kadri - Klapka it is then.

Honzek - Backlund - Coleman
Pospisil - Kadri - Klapka
Huberdeau - Zary - Gridin
Farabee - Frost - Coronato

...I actually kinda like those lines. Roll 4 non-stop.

I kind of of feel that Huska should know that. This isn't a new team but all the lines and pairings are unsettled. Maybe that's how all teams are now.

Not to mention taking a dumb penalty that negated a PP.

3rd line will be a defensive adventure, though Huberdeau is much improved. I think you keep a shooter like Gridin or Coronato with Kadri. There's no option for defenders to be worried about there.

You are sitting Sharangovich?

I feel like when the goals do start to come, they're going to come in bunches.

Honestly I'd probably flip Sharangovich and Gridin.

Gridin has slowed down a bit and I don't think AHL time will hurt him.

Agreed.

Not sure how much of that was a Kadri drag down last night though.

I'd give Gridin his 9 games then send him down.

Having him play in all situations, get top PP minutes, develop some confidence playing in the AHL would only be positive for his development.

I think he could play in the NHL maybe all year, but not sure that's the best route to develop a top offensive player.

You don't need to worry about the 9 game thing unless the intent is to send him to junior. Otherwise he can go up and down between the AHL throughout the year. The 9 games is the threshold for if the contract counts this year. Again, that only matters if they were to send him to junior. But I think everyone agrees the AHL is the right spot.

There isn't one redeeming quality about the VGK organization. At my age I shouldn't have this much hate in my heart but I am telling you, it's Oiler level hate. If Rasmus ends up there it may end.me.

I'm still annoyed about not challenging that second Eichel goal

Huska explained it in his post-game conference.

Doesn't his ELC slide a year if he plays below 10 games? That's my understanding, anyway, regardless of CHL or AHL.

No it’s a pro contract so if he’s in the ahl it counts

Puckpedia defines entry level slides as follows:
Quote:
When a player on an entry-level contract is 18 or 19 years old, their entry level contract is slide eligible. This means their team may choose to return them to junior and avoid using a year of their contract. In this case the contract slides. The net effect is that the term length of their contract doesn't start. There are still cap implications for each impacted year.

Exception : A player who signs an entry-level contract at age 19, and then turns 20 before Dec 31 of that year is not slide eligible

1 For slide eligibility, the player age is based on September 15th of the contract signing calendar year.

Slide Trigger
Players may play up to 10 NHL games in a season (including playoffs) and be still be eligible to slide. As soon as they play 10 games, their contract starts and can no longer slide.
They also list Gridin as slide eligible, as does Cap Wages. But it seems AHL games would not count towards the 10 game total. Regular season and playoff NHL games would.
