Just started watching last year's this week. Fun to see the episode with Huska's advice to Gridin before he was sent to junior about expecting to come in and make the team next year on the day Gridin did in fact come back and make the team the next year.
Not sure I liked this one as much as last year. It seemed like there was more discussion of players and decisions and the stakes of the games were established in season one (which I really liked). This was more like a fluff piece without any actual insights into the coaches and management. Even the contract signings were done without any interviews or content. Like where were the camp battles? Nothing on Kerins getting sent down? Those were the best parts and they have been replaced with interviews with Weegar’s wife and a montage of Backlund’s home life?
Big step down in my opinion and pretty disappointing. Hopefully next episode has more interesting content. It feels almost like players didn’t want uncomfortable moments exposed… but that is the main appeal.

I thought it was good, and always enjoy it, but I do find some of the slanted elements bothersome. I realize it's a Flames production, but showing a Flames goal only when they were blown out 8-1 is kinda lame. Don't be afraid of showing the lows. That's what makes this compelling.
Basically ask yourselves "how would the Oilers do this" and then do the opposite.

@ryand and team - I really enjoyed these last year and will enjoy again this year. I don't disagree with the constructive criticism within the previous posts but, overall, really great job. I do enjoy seeing the team on a more human level in addition to their hockey life.

In the last bonfire interview, they said they wanted to do exactly this. Focus more on the human and family side. I do agree it misses the mark.
