Poirier is just never gonna make it in the Flames org.

I once had high hopes for Adam Beckman but he flatlined in the AHL and cannot make the jump. That's the only other name that stuck out to me on that list.

Poirier’s decline may go down as one of the fastest in history.
Just 3 years ago he looked like our future offensive threat on the backend, however between injuries and lack luster production he’s quickly become waiver fodder.

We often give our own guys too much value, but I could see someone potentially grabbing him, maybe Brad’s team?

Tough to say, he looked pretty good last year but between Zayne and Bru right now and both Mews and Morin closely behind there’s really no room to give him an extended look with the big club.

I did a double take when I saw CBJs waived Sillinger.

I hope Poirier has a good year in the AHL.

Other teams still evaluating their own bubble guys. I don’t think Poirier gets claimed. A trade throw-in maybe.

I think Poirier just has too many young players now between him and the NHL.

Solovyov
Kuznetsov
Parekh
Brzustewicz
Civek
Miromanov

Will probably start needing to move some of them out the door soon of there are no roster spots opening up.

Wasn’t Jarventie the one who was traded for Bourgault? So both are nothing

Hugh McGing sounds like a name you'd use in a prank call.

Polin was one of those big name undrafted college free agents - after 2 years, 9 NHL games and middling AHL stats.

The Athletic had an article about the players at risk for waivers and Poirier and Kierans were listed as guys who could get snapped up

He most likely won't get claimed. Although every year most of these early season waiver guys pass through, there are always a few that get picked up, and often it's like really, that's the guy who gets claimed? So you never know I guess. It also seems like often the ones that do get claimed, it's to get a closer look and the player ends up back on waivers later.

But the question is who can afford to keep Poirier on the NHL roster and give him games to work out his issues?

Hard to see any team with playoff aspirations doing that unless they think he will rebound quickly.

He has three seasons in the AHL and zero NHL games played. I can't see any team committing to keeping him in the NHL with that resume.

There might be interest in him on a trade after he clears.

Alexandrov should be an NHL regular by now- good AHL stats, and the pedigree of being a second-round pick.

Lukas Cormier was one of the premier offensive threats from the backend throughout his junior career in the Q, but his size (5’10”) holds him back a bit. Middling AHL stats.

Poirier is good to have around in the AHL. A fair amount of the offense flows through him. It's also important for brz to have some friendly competition as he improves.

Has Poirier’s numbers in the AHL been impressive enough for him to likely be coveted by many teams as an NHLer? If he was say top 10 in defenseman scoring last year?
