List of BEST Contracts in the NHL
OK I'm tired of reading us #1 in WORST contracts lol
How about some amazing contracts out there, ones that well outperform what they are getting paid? I'd say Wolf is one heh but that's not lasting too much longer. Maybe entry level contracts shouldn't count.
So maybe players like Rasmus Andersson on his current contract..

In fairness, Wolf isn't on his ELC so it definitely counts. Even the guy who did the worst contracts in the other thread has Wolf as a positive value contract.

I'll just nominate a couple:
Anton Lundell under contract until 2030 at $5M/year, no trade or movement protections. Already has 2 stanley cups under his belt.
Gustav Forsling under contract until 2032 at $5.75M/year and is in the conversation for the best all-around defenseman in the game. Does have a NMC, though I don't know that it will ever come into play.
Bennett would have been on this list under his last contract.

Best contracts are really hard to game out. you almost have to adjust for ECLs, RFA signings, Re-Signings and UFA raises, and UFA reclamation projects all of these need to exist, and all of them are very different.
Best ECL is almost a moot point, by definition it's the best contract in the league, and normally a Bedard type player.
RFA re-signings , you are going to get $4-5M players like Marchenko, or Batherson putting up almost a PPG.
Re-signing your own UFAs you can get a Franchise Player for the next decade like Makar under $10M which might be unheard of going forward.
Sometimes by picking up another teams legacy player, you can end up with a 60 point Kane for $3-4m while bringing a heap of experience. (not really commenting on if Kane is the experience you want, but he helped lead a team to 3 cups)
Sometimes an $8.7M ageless Crosby who hasn't needed any wage inflation for 2 decades in the best contract in the league, but they are all such different scenarios for both the team, the past, the future, and what everyone needs.

The Athletic did an article on contract efficiency at the team level, which can probably be leveraged to find some of the best value deals:
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/652...rankings-2025/
Cale Makar on his current deal is pretty insane value but it only has 2 years left.

Is Tavares' contract now at $4 mill and change a consideration? His production is pretty solid still at this stage of the game.

Hellebuyck - $8.5M until 2031
Mackinnon - $12.6M until 2031
Tkachuk - $9.5M until 2030
A Protas - $3.375M until 2029

It's a bit skewed towards forwards IMO. As others have mentioned Weegar strikes me as a bargain, so does Coronato. Then there are guys like H. Lindholm, Slavin, Frosling, M. Andersson and D. Toews that provide a ton of value from the backend around the league. Monahan's contract is another bargain, but I'm not sure if he makes the list.

I'd have to go back and check but either Weegar or Coronatos deals are the best ones on the Flames.

Wolf is ranked #1 on most salary cap fantasy leagues for Goaltenders for this reason.
