Excellent work graduating a player that starts with a "W" folks.
But there's a perfectly good "Z" still on the board as well (which is where I've been voting for three rounds now)

Zarubin for me and then Hoskin.
Both with significant ceilings but low floors of course.

0.930+ SV% for two consecutive seasons.
Hopefully KHL time this season for us to see what we have. One year away from time in North America once English better.

Finally at prospect 22, we've reached the point where I don't find any of the remaining prospects overly interesting... that is a damn deep draft pool - and I'm sure there will be a few ppl arguing that a few of the remaining guys still have high upside, and might make the show.

I've still got 6-8 names that I find interesting.
Not names that I'm writing into the roster with pen, but above filler.

Jamieson for me.
For all those folks voting for our other large D men, might I suggest we pool our efforts??
_________
Hurtig: Jamieson and Hurtig are both LD who are 20. Jamieson had 14G & 36 pts last season. Hurtig had 5G & 16pts. Jamieson>Hurtig - bring your votes this way.
Maceo: Maceo is 6'6" vs Jamieson's 6'3" so he beats him in terms of size. But Phillips had 3 points last season...a drop from his previous season of 4pts! We have seen time and time again, big D men with zero offensive talent do not have the ability to transition to the NHL as they typically can't manage moving the puck effectively. Ignore the draft position, vote Jamieson.
Grushnikov: Yes he was a second round pick, yes he hits hard, but (just like Maceo) - no offensive talent. Like none. Also no progression over his 2 years in the AHL. Again, ignore the draft position, vote Jamieson.

I like Morton, but went with Laing. Played well in Saskatoon, he’s 6’6”, and Iggy likes him.

One report said Phillips struggles to complete basic junior passes. You can’t teach size but it’s a bit late to teach fundamental skills.

Agreed. I like few of the grinder type players on the list. Good teams can fill their 3rd and 4th line with this kind of home grown talent.

I bet there are 1000+ games out of the rest of these prospects. It sounds more grandiose than it really is, as there are still 1-2 prospects left on the board that can reach that plateau by themselves.
Been voting Zarubin for about 5 rounds now. Then the wildcards start a bit here for me.
Hoskin: Drafted out of nowhere last season from a lower level league. Had a pretty good first season in the NCAA. Might be a middle-six guy here after all.
Ciona - Do you vote for a 4th line guy here? You might if he is an impact 4th liner. Ciona really impressed with his speed and IQ last development camp/preseason. He was hard not to notice, plus he has that 'captain material' written all over him too. If he makes it, he will add on and off the ice it seems. This is a guy that should get more votes than what you assume may only be a 4th liner.
Laing - 6'6" WITH skill and not a bad skater either. With guys like Reschny, Potter, Misa - all sub 6'0" centers - having a big guy who can really make some room out there and actually work effectively with skilled guys is attractive. I am not sure what Klapka is, but he was trending to be a legitimately good enough top line player towards the end of the season (though sample size is too small, so I do return to 'I don't know what he is yet"). Is Laing going to be a similar player? He certainly is capable of making high-end plays at times.
Lane - 86pts at St. Andrews College. "Yeah, yeah.. *yawn*. That's just high school hockey, and he wasn't even the top scorer on his team!". Well, with the rule changes, he decided to jump ship and play for Brampton, and went a PPG for 13 games. That's pretty impressive - 18 year old kid playing on a new team in a new league with a definite uptick in competition, and his stats ended up 13GP 7G 6A? This may be a player. He is also 6'1", so he isn't undersized. I have him next after Zarubin I think.
Matveiko - Intriguing prospect. His stats don't really jump off the page, but then he had a growth spurt and is now 6'4", 185lbs. I am sure he was a bit clumsy having grown 3" and gaining 35lbs in one season! He is no longer listed with the CSKA Jrs, and may play in the KHL this upcoming season. Oh, and the previous season - in which he was 6'1 and 150lbs - his stat line was: 26GP 0G 1A 1PTS. This season - with that growth spurt (and I assume increased opportunity), he put up 42GP 10G 14A 24PTS. That's a nice jump, considering he is probably all gangling still. By the way, did I mention he is a C? Wish I could find some video on him, but I haven't been able to. Complete wildcard for me.

Grushnikov looked like he had decent mobility in my limited viewings, and good physicality, but the fact his offensive game is seemingly non-existent makes me think he must not have the hockey IQ required to make the NHL.
If he were able to move the puck up to his forwards, or make smart plays in the offensive zone, we should see it reflected in his stats. And it's just not there.
1 goal + 4 assists in 61 AHL games? He was 7th in points per game on the Wranglers last season.
EDIT:
Here are the points per game stats for Dmen:
Poirier .59
Solovyov .47
Brzustewicz .46
Barrie .45
Kuznetsov .29
Tinordi .17
Grushnikov .08

They must have a projection on him that is different than others.
They wouldn't just see big and draft big and ignore the puck skills issue if they didn't believe there was something there to work with.
