Not a good look at all. Not going to happen but I would really like to see the NHL old boys club sent packing as was done with Hockey Canada.

Wasn't he also accused of something in Russia that caused him to run home and take care of that? Or am I mistaken?

From the Athletic
Quote:
The alleged assault occurred in December 2023 during a Rangers road trip, according to two Rangers sources briefed about the allegation. Panarin and the woman, who was a regular part of the team’s travelling party, were at a post-game gathering at a hotel with about a dozen other players and staff members. Panarin allegedly took her phone and said he would only give it back if she retrieved it from his hotel room, the sources said. When she went to his hotel room to retrieve her device, Panarin pinned her down on the bed. She pushed him off, retrieved her phone and left the room.

There is no record of the woman reporting the incident to law enforcement. She also did not immediately alert the team. But about three months after the alleged sexual assault, she informed the team as part of an investigation into a separate incident. The team learned that the woman, whose anxiety around airplane travel was well known among team members, had shared her anti-anxiety medicine with a player who had the same issue. She was placed on paid leave pending the outcome of that investigation.

The female employee felt she was treated unfairly, according to team sources, and she then informed the team about the alleged assault.

He publically criticized Putin, saying he was out of touch. Then almost right after, he had to take a leave of absence in 2021 after he was accused/sued for beating up an 18 year old woman in Riga in 2011. I don't think anything ever came off those allegations.

That tracks with how the Rangers do not want employees of the team engaging with the players whatsoever.

The “team sources” wasted no effort in trying to cast doubt on the victim I see.

Did that reports insinuate she came up with this allegation because they fired her for sharing her prescription drugs with a player at the end there?

I naturally side with the alleged victim, as many times an alleged perpetrator is able exert enough power to make it go away and/or discount the victim. That said, the police can still open an investigation if evidence warrants.

The political implications may indeed be a factor, in which case alleged blackmail can also be investigated.

Often though, cases like this often fall through the cracks.

The Oilers are already wondering what kind of package they need to put together to get him.

I assume he learned this playing for the Hawks.

Disappointed this wasn’t brought up. He was on Kane’s line also.

I read this thread title to mean Panarin was assaulted and both he and the Rangers were somehow paid

To me this is a simple case of the Rangers not wanting to having to pay out more if it got to trial, given it's involving two employees, as opposed to covering for Panarin. If the woman was a civilian outside the organization the Rangers would not be paying out. I'm surprised Panarin is still with the organization though. He's a great player, so that obviously plays into it but it doesn't come across well to keep him.
