Default Ducks 4 Flames 3 (OT)

Ducks 4 Flames 3 (OT)

- Flames blow a late two goal lead on lose in overtime.
- Backlund line dominant
- Powerplay did them in
- Wolf would likely want those last 21 minutes back

Blues the target with the Wild win and St. Louis loss in Edmonton.

St. Louis on a 95.3 point pace. (2.3 points in 2 games to come)
Minnesota on a 96.5 point pace. (3.5 points in 3 games to come)

Calgary needs to go 4-0-0 to pass the Blues with 96 points.

But with so little sample size left the Flames need one of the two teams to lose out to really have a chance.

Draft Picks:

Picks 11-15 look doubtful for Montreal. Pick 15 possible. Pick 16 probable.

Gap with the Panthers at 5.

My take on that game last night has more to do with the future than the present. The Ducks have a lot of young talent. The Sharks do too. The Ducks and Sharks suck now, but I believe both teams are going to be elite for a long time. How are the Flames going to build a team that can compete with those teams? I’m not saying that in a defeatist way. I’m genuinely curious.

The Flames have an awesome young goalie in Wolf. Bahl and Parekh are part of the solution on the blue line. Zary and Coronato are part of the solution at forward. Honzek could be too. The Flames also have what looks to be a great 2024 draft class. I’m very interested to see if the Flames can string together a series of draft classes like 2024 and begin to close the gaps between them and the Sharks and Ducks in terms of long-term potential.

I hope the Flames also trade Andersson to give the team more draft picks or prospects.

Wolf has been over committing sliding across a lot lately. Teams keying on this it seems?

Calagry had 71% of the expected goals 5v5, and 68% of the expected goals in all situations.

Considering we had 6 PP chances to theirs 0, that would seem impossible, expect for our Flames.
