The Flames announced today that they have signed goaltender Owen Say to a one-year, two-way NHL contract, with an AAV of $872,500, beginning in the 2025-26 season.
Say, a native of London, ON, backstopped the University of Notre Dame in 2024-25, posting a .920 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA along with a 10-15-0 record in 27 games played. Say’s .920 save percentage ranks third in the Big-10 while his 829 saves this season are the second-most, with only Flames prospect and Penn State netminder Arsenii Sergeev recording more.
Prior to this season, Say spent two years with Mercyhurst College, playing 44 games over his two seasons in the AHA. The 23-year-old played his junior with the BCHL’s Salmon Arm Silverbacks and the NOJHL’s Powassan Voodoos.

I wonder if this means that Sergeev isn't going pro next year.

Say no more! (there's going to be a lot of these I think!)
Assume for AHL next year with Cooley moving up?

He and Notre Dame recently beat the #5 team in the country, Minnesota in a 3 game conference playoff series. Say gave up just 6 goals in those 3 games, all on the road, stopping 99 shots in those 3 games
They then lost to #2 Michigan State in the Conference finals 1-0. Say stopped 45 shots

That's actually a healthy stat line for a Notre Dame goalie. Pretty decent signing IMO.

Likely doesn't affect it one way or the other. Depending on what happens with Vladar and Cooley, there will definitely be spots open in both the AHL and ECHL next season.

All I can get
Say will be a Wrangler. It's a two-way NHL deal.
Say goodbye to Ignatjew.

He could also be a Cooley replacement if the Flames are planning on having Cooley as the Flames backup in training camp next year.

I haven't been following the Wranglers, how has Ignatjew done? He showed a bit of promise in Penticton.

He's shown steady improvement all year after a very rough start
