Logical transaction, plus he's having a pretty decent season in the A.

A point-per-game player in the AHL this season.

Hunt as a Backlund replacement.
May the lord have mercy on our souls.

Still wondering why Kerins is being held back after a pretty good initial showing.

In general, I'd prefer we give the ice time to a rising 22 year old as opposed to the 29 year old. But.. I imagine role and size (bigger body) is playing a part here. Will be interesting to see where he slots in.

I think his skating/pace issues are only addressable in the offseason. Probably why he'll not see the NHL again this year (my guess).

Week to week, that is not ideal.
RIP playoffs? center is not a position we can afford a loss on

Just like 2015 when Captain Giordano went down and they still gutted it out to get in.
Time for Frost to step up and show that he's going to take this role as the heir apparent.

Yes he's been good in the AHL. So?
We've seen him in the NHL, quite a bit. For several teams. He doesn't move any needle at this level.
Now that I've said that, watch him score 3. This is the way.

Backlund hadn't been particularly great until the last couple games because of whatever he was already nursing.
Tough loss but some youthful exuberance might provide the shot in the arm that they need (no Hunt's not young but younger lol).
When Zary's back he should move to C.

Is Kerins a shutdown center in Backlund's mold? Obviously the team doesn't see him as that. Is Hunt? Well, more so than Kerins but definitely not to the degree that Backlund is. What was the best option out there?
Hunt is replacing Backlund's spot, or at least replacing someone's spot who jumps into Backlund's spot.

I sure hope it's Klapka getting the top nine opportunity, but I doubt it.

Hunt isn't a center.

I know their thought process here is "its 2 games, we'll tread water" which I get but you have a chance to shoot a kid out of a cannon and see what they have. Use it.
