Default How do we fix our putrid 3 on 3 OT play?

I saw Huska started a more defensive lineup to see if they win the faceoff, I like that idea (since it seems like Kadri loses the opening faceoff every time)

We look slower in OT than other teams. I think that’s likely because Huberdeau and Andersson always start and they are slower players.

I’ll have to look up the numbers but it seems like it’s the same guys on the ice everytime we lose. Some combination of Kadri,Huberdeau,Andersson.

Maybe give the younger guys a shot? Coronato has played VERY limited in OT and scored a beauty one time. Also Zary has moved and can dangle in the open ice.

Any other thoughts? OT is super frustrating these days.
Also, no Sharangovich in OT.

Our new guys should get more of a chance also. Kadri and Huberdeau are doing well in 5 on 5 this year but NOT 3 on 3. Time to shake it up.

Better players.

It’s easy to be untouchable in 3v3 when Johnny Gaudreau is wheeling around out there with prime Gio and Brodie.

It’s quite difficult when your best offensive weapon is Nazem Kadri.

Yeah it's personnel IMO. Huberdeau is not a good fit for 3on3, poor defensively and not great at possession. Rasmus has made some bad decisions. Kadri too.

Time for players like Zary, Frost and Weegar to get lion's share of the ice time.

He's a little bit slow for 3 on 3 I think though.. Give him the summer with Danielle and then I'm excited about him next year..

We need elite players who can skate.

Our players and style of play is not condusive to 3 on 3.

You can’t shoe horn our best offensive players into what they aren’t.

The younger guys should be playing. Kadri plays with blinders and Huberdeau isn’t really a possession player.

From what I’ve seen from Frost and Zary they are guys who can make plays and enter the zone with ease with the puck and they are willing passers.

One of the more frustrating things about OT is when they leave the offensive zone and try to come in again. Now you just allow the defence to be set.

I would start by not putting Sharangovich out there.

Frosty Zary and Coronato . ...then swap with Bee, Sharky and Dough.

Yeah....win in regulation for sure but let's just be entertained.

Get Raz, Kadri off 3 on 3 ....both try too hard to win it themselves and neither have the talent, wheels anymore.

No more F in shootouts either!!! Hate the gimmick .

Use the guy who can give you the best chance to win the faceoff to start OT. Then make a switch, many teams do this. In the Carolina game Kadri was 2/7, Frost 7/14. Frost has wheels, and is better defensively (per Jfresh stat card).

Also give the guys whose been flying all game a chance. Farabee had his best game last game, and should have seen some OT. Coronato was excellent in the Montreal game, he started OT..and won the game in 12 seconds.

If the Flames win the initial face off, pull the goalie and go with 4 on 3 skaters. Go big or go home.

If you do that and lose you don’t get the single point

We have no first line players. Of course we will struggle to score in OT.

We had 1 player in the 4 nations cup and he was a 7th defenseman. We lack the skill to compete in 3 on 3.

Zary, Pospisil, Frost, and Coronato, are the top 4 forwards I would like to see more of in OT.

I also think our OT would take a huge leap next year with Parekh on the team.
