If this one happens I guess the Sabres are going full rebuild again? Why trade your young, soon to be probably best winger, who's playing well already?

Sabres are weird

Would hope for Buffalo's sake that has to be a haul. Peterka is 23 and has 51 points in 59 games, although he's had a very inconsistent season.

Isn't that the exact kind of player the Sabres should be trading for?

What a mess of an organization. Is he too good and too young?

Advanced discussions, eh?

‘All right, Professor. If we assume a perfectly spherical Peterka in a total vacuum, how hard would he then have to skate to exceed the speed of McDavid? Show your calculus.’

Love Peterka's game, wish we had room.
I'd swap a current winger for him in a heart beat.

Maybe we're the ones in on Peterka... but we have nothing they would want really

Lol. Hesitant to trade cozens in case he breaks out. Might as well trade JJ

I would trade quite a bit to get him if he's actually available. Age, offensive talent. Right in the Flames wheelhouse.

Looking around apparently the justification of potentially moving him now is that the Sabres are afraid he will be an offer sheet target and the last thing they need is more draft picks. So attempt to trade him for assets they actually need.

Sabres have 30 million in cap space next year and need to re-sign Peterka, Quinn, Byram, and McLeod, and re-sign or replace Zucker, Jokiharju, Bryson, Reimer, and Gilbert

Unless someone is offering him way above market, that seems a weird fear to have.

That’s absurd. He’s young and almost a point a game average this season. Did they have no plans on re-signing him?

He and Quinn had great chemistry in the minors too… it’s pretty wild if this is being considered…

Wouldn't him signing an offer sheet actually help the Sabers? They can always just match, and have plenty of cap space. I'm pretty sure that they still have a couple of years of team control, so a team can't just offersheet him to a 1yr contract that would walk him to UFA either.

Yeah they should have no issues matching any offers that come in.

I love JJ Peterka. I would hope that if he was made available, Conroy would be all over that.

Makes no sense that he would be on the block- that's almost as bad as the Brandt Clarke rumor from a few weeks ago.

Now, for all the complaining about Cozens, Quinn has been having a worse year.

Like Sandman and a few people have said, Buffalo as an organization is a terrible place for these kids to play.

That team has had a loosing culture since the early 2000's
Stuck in that perpetual rebuild, trading away most of your stars who go on and have better career's elsewhere... yea I wouldn't want to be there either.
