I like this trade for the Jets. Yeah he's getting older and a UFA, but Tanev is a pretty great depth piece. Perfect guy for a long playoff push.

Sure, the playoffs are going to be a war no matter who they play, but that team is on fire this year with the best goalie on the planet. The Jets have a chance against anyone.

Agreed, although the 2027 pick isn't for a few years. In still surprised we couldn't get a first out of Tanev, especially with retention involved.

Nice pick up for the Jets. They don't really have any weak areas on their team and the biggest question mark for them was if they had the motor to grind in the playoffs. Tanev should help in that area.

It was why lots of people were calling for the Flames to shop guys like Toffoli, Tanev, etc at the 2023 deadline when teams got into an arms race.

Then in 2024 teams were all gun shy because it burned them the year before and the Vegas team that didn't do much at the deadline won.

This year teams all seemed to forget about that again and have went a bit crazy again and again why many Flames fans hoped they'd shop Andersson a bit more aggressively
