I think it'll be good for us to be in Yankee territory and get the booze from the pigs in the stands

Im not.

This has all the markings of a nail biter even though Canada will likely out shoot them at a 2:1 ratio if not more.

Its just how Canada/Finland games seem to go.

4-2 good guys with a late empty netter.

The NHL definitely wants a USA v. Canada final so I bet we see a few extra powerplays falling Canada's way.

The most important thing from here on in has to be identifying the deficiencies moving into the Olympic year. It's obvious there is work to do from the selection and roster construction perspective.

This tired thinking of needed 2 lines of energy/heart/grinder guys has got to go. Sure, you bring a few along, but they can be in the Marchie model, where they can also score.

Let's hope their goalie is more Karri Ramo and less Miikka Kiprusoff today

Hagel, Cirelli, and Bennett have been great. The problem is the PP sputtering, and coaching not adapting to the wall the Americans put up at 5 on 5.

Lets NOT start the game off with Goonery. That backfired big time. Be smart, finish checks, be first to pucks and control the puck . Play smarter and less pound my chest F in loonacy.

We have 3 of the absolute best studs in the game this shouldnt be close . Hopefully Cooper has them dialed in.

A big change in philosphy when putting these teams together would be an end to the brass bringing in “their guys” instead of the best players in some cases. Some players are given preferential treatment because of what they did 5 - 10 years ago for their NHL clubs that the current team Canada GMs/coaches were or are a part of. I prefer the concept of whoever is the absolute best players right now going to these best on best tournaments.

Canada can still win this tournament. They could still win it with Binnington giving up 1-2 bad goals a game. But if they do, I bet Armstrong puts Binnington’s name down in pen for the Olympic team because “he’s a competitor”.

Boston is where he won Game 7 for the Stanley Cup, he actually won 3 games there in that series.

The real problem is Canada has some guys that look more like passengers than anything.

Hagel, Cirelli, Bennett weren't the issue against the U.S. They matched the intensity and provided quality minutes in that game. Especially the Hagel-Cirelli-Point line that absolutely dominated the Eichel-Tkachuk line and had over 80% xGF.

Marner, Jarvis, Reinhart, Marchand...those guys have really struggled to generate offense. With the pace the games have been played at the guys that aren't super fast, and also aren't big and strong have struggled a bit.

When you look at the top 20 of NHL scoring for Canadians the last year and a half the top 3 scorers left off are Scheifele, Suzuki, and Thomas.

Outside of Scheifele I don't really have a snub at forward - there are a lot of guys who kind of feel in the same level that are interchangeable.

Hopefully Bedard and Celebrini have a crazy next 70 games between now and when the Olympic team is announced and force themselves into consideration. Because we need more high end forwards for Canada.
