LeBrun: Flames remain interested in Cozens despite trading for Frost
https://www.tsn.ca/video/early-tradi...-trade~3074500
Calgary won't go spend big assets on a rental player, doesn't make sense for the Calgary Flames
Flames have been enamored with Cozens all season long
Lebrun doesn't know if the Flames have the pieces for Buffalo
Thinks the trade is going to have to be Apples for Apples, not a futures deal
2/3rds of the league have checked into Cozens

Sounds good to me. I think he'd pop getting out of that gong show.

Wonder what pieces could we give up? Andersson probably isn't moving at this point or agrees to go to Buffalo. We're pretty deep with forwards
1st + Pospisil +?
Maybe a 3rd team gets involved?

Would Pospisil and Kerins be enough?

Kadri for Mittlestadt and 3rd
Mittlestadt and NJ 1st for Cozens
Buffalo flips 1st for whoever they are after.

If we do get Cozens, I feel we will need to trade Kadri at that point.

Flames not giving up 1sts in the deal does give them some ammo still. I would be perfectly okay sending one of those out in a package for Cozens. Probably need a third team involved so you can shuffle around assets to make all the teams happy.

Sabres are not gonna want Mittlestadt back. If I were Sabres, I'd be asking for either Coronato or Zary as the young piece going back.

I posted in the other thread, but Buffalo rumored ask was for Andersson, Pospisil and a pick the last time things were half serious. Andersson didn't want to waive for Buffalo.

What would apples for apples look like in this situation? What is Buffalo lacking... besides everything?

Good, get that big center- then perhaps we won’t have to worry so much about giving up our chance to draft one in the top-10 of the draft. I still think Cozens is a different player on a better team than Buffalo.

In that case, which teams are likely valuing picks/prospects more than roster players at this point?
Anaheim comes to mind but I’m not sure.
Maybe Pittsburgh.
Philadelphia has signalled a tank with their latest trades.
Chicago and San Jose are likely eager to start getting better so I don’t think they are looking for picks anymore.

Maybe something around Zegras being the piece that ends up in Buffalo.

Some of these proposals -- did you read what Royle wrote? Andersson + Pospisil + pick is a heavy price. A few spare parts is not going to move the needle. I wonder if this is a trade that happens in the off-season if Andersson is not willing to resign at a number that they want.

Reason: Misquoted Royle.

Buffalo isn’t lacking offensive dmen. They have a ton of good pieces but seem to never be able to put it together.

I just don't think the Flames have the pieces to put together a package that works for the Sabres.
