News Roundup

The Calgary Flames have just two Brad Treliving first-round picks left in the organization

After the Calgary Flames’ shocking trade with the Philadelphia Flyers, yet another Brad Treliving first-round pick walked out the door. By trading Jakob Pelletier a few years after he was drafted, the Flames parted way with another high-profile pick made by Calgary’s former general manager.

Winnable game. They should probably win it.

Also expecting a Vladar start.

Id say they better empty the tank on this one. 100% effort . Get 2 points go get rested come back with a healthy lineup and get a spot that no one thought possible.

When Zary and Bahl are back this team is more complete.

Just win baby

With the break upcoming and considering the schedule on the other side, a loss tonight could completely change the internal conversation around this team. It could change the course of the franchise moving forward, IMO for the better. Especially if Van wins.

And yet I'm still here cheering for these Ws.

There is still plenty of time left on the season, but for the sake of the psyche of both the team and the fanbase, it would do a lot of good to play well, win, and keep pace with Van and LA.

Do that and come back after the break with some key reinforcements in Zary and Bahl and it should be a thrilling stretch drive.

regarding the Pike 'tweet' does that mean the Flames are good at finding fault, or just that a large number of egregious calls go against us at first pass?

A win going into the 4 nations break would be good for players psyche and keep the belief that they are a playoff team. I think the vets need some rest and a silver lining of not having too many guys in the tournament is maybe the Flames will be ‘fresher’ for a sprint to the finish of the regular season. Go Flames!

11 out of 28 remaining games vs non playoff teams and a hellish post break road trip. They need this win pretty badly. Post break will be playoff hockey till the end. Hopefully they get Bahl and Zary back.

Hopefully Andersson doesn’t get dinged up in the tourney. They are probably going to need to lean on him down the stretch

Hunt is a bit too high up the lineup for my liking, I would've tried either Pospisil or Sharangovich in that spot first. Huska sure likes the guy, reminds me of Lewis for Sutter.

I still like either Hanley, or Bean paired with Weegar ahead of Miromanov, but that's me.

Hopefully, Pospisil helps drive the 4th line tonight, I bet he gets a point in this one.

I like the new line configuration. It’ll look way better with zary and bahl back

Hunt and Miromanov out I’m guessing at that point.

I’ve liked the Bean-Pachal bottom pairing when the top 4 are winning their matchups, but losing Bahl has exposed the Flames inability to control play from the backend without him. Giving Coronato a chance with Kadri-Huberdeau is going to blow up and stay a thing for the rest of the season I believe. Hunt-Coleman on the forecheck should help keep that line above water. I worry about Sharky-Frost-Farabee, but they also represent to highest ceiling potential of the rest of the options.
