The back up goalies are in net up in Edmonton. The Sharks have the rookie Askarov and the Oilers have Pickard. The Sharks are up 2-1 midway through the game with the Oilers having the edge in shots 19-12. All goals scored were in the first period.

The Sharks are in full force "hang on" mode. Askarov is bailing his team out with great saves as the Oilers have fired twenty shots at him in the second period. It is 30-14 overall in shots, but, the Sharks still lead 2-1 after forty minutes.
