Default Stars 6 Flames 2

Stars 6 Flames 2

- Flames solid five on five for the most part
- Late third collapse made it more lopsided than it was
- Kuzmenko moves up the roster after being healthy scratched
- Not a great night for Wolf

When the Flames don't get great goaltending, they lose.

Not blaming Wolf, just saying.

I actually don't hang this loss on Wolf. The only bad goal he gave up was when he hesitated and then gave the puck away to Benn. Everything else was deflections or just good shots. He had some really great saves.

I thought the Flames' effort was high, and this is why the game was tied. Dallas just cranked it up a notch, and that's the real difference IMO. This is why the Flames are at the start of a rebuild - they don't have the goal scoring ability that Dallas does. When a good team matches the Flames' effort, this is the expected outcome.

Outside of having discipline issues tonight (and spotty reffing), I thought the Flames played a fairly good game overall start to finish. Just over-matched.

The expected goals were 2.39 and he gave up 6. He was the difference. He’s entitled to have a bad game.

That was a “bad” goal. There were a few he’d like another shot at - the first goal was an open shot that just beat him high, the semi-breakaway that Robertson snapped low, the tip for 3-2. Good shots and plays by the other team, but he’s made those saves pretty routinely.

Yeah there was no part of Wolfs game last night that was "good". It coincided with some guys in front of him having poor nights as well. The results speak for themselves.

Its not a big deal, and its going to happen again. The key is not to allow it to become the norm. That's where veteran leadership comes in and are expected to steer the ship back in the right direction.

Sometimes the bounces don't go your way. Sometimes, for the goalie, the puck just doesn't hit you. That's why you play 82 games (well, that and revenue generation)
