Icon20 Bruins Fire Coach Jim Montgomery

https://www.si.com/onsi/breakaway/ne...jim-montgomery

As per Sports Illustrated the Bruins have let go of head coach Jim Montgomery. Obviously wouldn't be a surprising move if true. The writing has been on the wall, and a beatdown by the Blue Jackets wasn't a good look.

Unsurprising. They've been a major dud so far this year.

Unverified, but same report suggests Joe Sacco is the interim coach.

It's not, but the coaches head is always first to be lopped off. It's tried and true.

Yeah, don't think it's his fault as he's proven he's a good coach, but at the same time, I won't be surprised to see the Bruins turn things around under a new coach. Sometimes, a new voice and a few small tweaks is all that's needed.

The ghost of Elias Lindholm is haunting that roster more than anything. Dudes completely checked out now that he's got his payday.

I don't think the Bruins roster is very good...they probably get a bump but it will be short lived IMO

Do the Oilers get worried that the Bruins will sign either Babcock or Q? A loss tonight against Ottawa could sign the death warrant for the Knob.

Almost 13M in Elias and Zadorov hurts them a lot.

high standard in Boston.

Bruce Cassidy made the playoffs every year as Bruins head coach. Won 6 playoff rounds, including a trip to the cup. Wins the cup with Vegas one season after being fired by the Bruins.

Montgomery has 120 wins in 2 seasons plus 1 month for the Bruins (120-41-23), including the Presidents trophy. Lost in the playoffs to the cup finalist in year one, then cup champs in year two

I was going to say that I just don't see a coach with a record of 9-8-2 being fired so soon, but then looked up the Bruins record and its not that far off from the Oilers!

If I'm the Oilers I'm firing Knob now and hiring Montgomery before Nashville does.

Would McDavid approve that though. At this point, you would think that he starts to feel bad for ruining the careers of coaches and apparently Knob was hired specifically because he had links with McDavid.

Montgomery coached that team to 122 wins in the last two seasons which is pretty rare air. I guess they wanted to try and spark the team but really people have been expecting this team to decline for years now and it's finally starting. I guess that's what you get for thinking Lindholm can be a difference maker on your team.
