Seems like a good buy low candidate for the sharks. I like it.

Treliving hasn't learned. Sells a young dman for very little and wraps up all his older dmen until they are 40.

Treliving gotta get the draft picks in now so he can trade them for 15 games of 7/8 UFA defensemen at the deadline.

Liljegren sucks, that was actually a great return for him. Don't be fooled by Toronto media and fans pumping up any possible trade chip as the second coming of Christ.

a 3rd AND a 6th? Imagine how many unnecessary depth guys that buys you at the deadline. No wonder Tre pulled the trigger.

Actually the analytics seem to suggest that Liljegren does pretty well with his minutes, even in a to-4 role last year. And at least going from Toronto to San Jose he has experience with terrible bluelines.

Yeah Liljegren has pretty good advanced stats, he's not a strong physical hard to play against defender but he moves the puck real well and is a very good skater... considering Cody Ceci is the Sharks top pairing RHD right now and they have Jack Thompson drowning in his own end on the bottom pairing, this trade has the potential to look real bad for the Wizard, imagine Liljegren is going to play 20-25 minutes a night in SJ and get some powerplay time

Didn't really expect much more given how badly Berube has destroyed his value this year.... pretty nice get for the Sharks at that price - I'd rather have him than Barrie on the Flames

I like this trade for a rebuilding sharks team. These are the kind of trades you make while building up your roster as they have. It's good.

Yeah they already stole Walman (with a pick!) from Detroit in what was a complete headscratcher from Yzerman.

And this seems like it could be another low cost, high reward move.

If I was Liljegren, I'd be stoked to be going from Toronto to SJ, California is sweet

Liljegren is a useful player but he's just another 1st round pick that hasn't lived up to his potential. Same draft as Valimaki and similar results. He's just a victim of being overhyped as all Leafs players are. A 3rd round pick is a decent return and as said above to Treliving nothing but currency burning a hole in his pocket likely used to add a depth defenseman or 4th liner for the playoffs. Also not a bad move for the Sharks to see if he has more to offer as this is the kind of player that was never going to thrive under Berube.

Yup, I think it's a solid return for Treliving. I watch a lot of Leafs games in Toronto and Liljegren is very, very meh. He wouldn't crack the Flames top 6 right now.

The SJ-SF region is a megapolis.

If you love pollution, garbage, traffic, lineups, high prices, windchill, an awful hockey team and the theatre.

According to LeBrun, SJ was the only team that had an offer on the table for Liljegren
