Icon59 McDavid leaves game vs. CBJ w/ lower-body injury- Update- out 2-3 weeks

Edit- update out 2-3 weeks:

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is expected to miss two-to-three weeks with an ankle injury suffered Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team announced.

Oilers down 3-0 in the first and now 97 is done early

Looked like a relatively innocuous play but McD went off favouring his lower leg.

Refs have had it with his diving, and the one by him took the opportunity to poke his whistle into McWhiny's ankle while it was flailing away on top of the boards.

Did Provorov touch him? Just fall on own? McDavid injuring himself on a dive would be classic.

Edit: see the columbus player from behind reaching now. Thanks Mass_nerder

The Columbus player on the boards definitely caught McDavid's skate with his stick. *Edit* looked like he intentionally tapped McDavid's skate, so it definitely could have been called.
I feel bad for that player though, because the Edmonton (and Canadian) media will be calling for his indefinite suspension.

Nah, it's definitely a trip — can see everything in slo-mo here, McDavid's left foot goes hard into the boards after Werenski catches him in the NZ.

Wasn't Provorov, it was Werenski from behind him. You're right that Provorov didn't touch him until he was already going down.

Looks like his left skate rammed the board in a weird way.

Not Provorov. I had to watch it a few times to see it, but the BJ player along the boards reached his stick out when McDavid was flying by and it looks like he got his foot.

Yeah, think it was Zach Werenski that gives him a good chop to the skate as he goes by.

It’s going to be hilarious seeing just how bad that team is if McDavid is out for any length of time.

Yes, great clip. Look at the 0:04 mark, his leg could be getting torqued pretty hard there given where his toes are pointing, and his dead bug posture is a protective reaction. Interesting to see him put that much weight on it right away..

Think it's #59, Chinakhov. He takes out McDavid's right foot, then McDavid's left foot hits the boards as he's falling.

Watching it again, I can definitely see the stick get in there a little bit. So yeah, I guess you can call it a trip. At first it looked like he just lost his footing.

Good news is that if McLoser is out for any length of time, the Oilers are cooked.

Sorry but when you dive as much as McDavid of course you do not get the benefit of the doubt.

Looks like a trip though

I had a really bad ankle sprain playing hockey. Someone who was falling hauled me down and fell on my foot, causing the ankle to twist as I fell. Heard a loud pop. I was able to skate off the ice. The skate boot acts almost like a cast. When I went to put weight on it for my next shift that was a no though.

They'll probably go on a win streak just because it would be massively annoying for them to do that.
