Default Jim Gregory/Jack Adams Trophies

Conroy's Flames have had a great start to the season!

Does he get a nod for the Jim Gregory?

Does Huska get a nod for the Jack Adams?

Does the continuation of the Flames good fortune put them in the discussion?

Even if they flounder a bit, everyone expected them to be a bottom 5 or even 3 cellar dweller.

If they make the playoffs, surely they have to be considered.

Obviously too soon but thoughts on a discussion?

If the Flames maintain their 150 point pace, they will be in line for a ton of hardware. They'll even win the Stanley Cup in only 19 games, which must be some sort of modern record.

If the Flames go without a loss in regulation during the season, yes they will be considered.

Otherwise, thus post is exceptionally premature and likely a jinx.

Wow. Tough crowd! And probably the number 1 reason I don’t post anymore. Jeez, you folks. It’s a discussion board. Get a grip on yourselves.

To answer your question,

If the Flames flounder a bit and don't make the playoffs, the likelihood of either thing happening is pretty small.

Both awards are typically given to Playoff teams, and there are several examples of teams that may have a better chance?

What if Winnipeg continues its hot start?

What about the Wild?

We’re still on track for 163 points. So I’d say maybe??

Whatever award they give out for having the second best six game start to the season we should be nominated but Winnipeg still wins

I hope NO ONE discusses anything prematurely. I hope we just go about our business and fly under the radar , get zero respect and end up like the New Jerseys Devils back in the day.

Back then no-one talked about them and then they steamrolled you in the playoffs led by Brodeur, Thr non special NEids, Elias , Steven's.

What Conroy has managed to do injecting enthusiasm, honesty, Integrity , with a Wranglers and Flames roster isn't amazing . I expected this . I think Craig is involved , he gets people excited , he and his vision and love for the game is contagious .

I think Connys got everyone cheering for him because he's doing this his way after watching for a decade the mistakes , the selfishness, the stupidity, shortsighted misgivings of guys thinking of nothing ...nothing that would lead to promise and would NOT have anyone want to come here .
God I am so happy. We have direction . We've got guys understanding the message , creating a new culture , ethic .
I wish Harley, Doc , Bud , Kinger were here still to see this .

I hope Murray understands and comprehends this isn't a fluke
and some patience , PAIN, LOSS, blood , sweat and alot of tears were endured for many many years to serve as an example that some guys can talk talk talk but it takes a guy who can walk the talk .
Yeah , it's early. May the hockey gods be kind . I'll take bounces , voodoo and many slain chickens in thr basement of chicken on the way ....I want to see us rewarded with banners yearly .

I ain't spiking anyone's kool-aid. They can do that up North all they want . I'm excited to see Backs , Weegs, Raz and other vets play, lead and succeed.
I'm happy Iggy is behind thr scenes with Gelinas . Other additions to the alumni like Stone and Stajan all contributing .
Man these are exciting times . Hard to curb my enthusiasm.

God I wish Johnny G was still here. Craig fought so hard to get him here and he got pissed away. No way he should've been allowed to leave . He was electric.

Sorry. Long long long time Flames fan . Lots of excellent memories. Good and bad idgaf. Love me some Flames doing well.

Isn't the Jack Adams Trophy sort of the proverbial "Kiss of Death" though?

Teams that make dramatic jumps in the standings usually can't sustain it, followed by the coach being dumped.

It's 6 games. it's largely meaningless.

Yes, its been exciting. Yesterday's game was very nice to be at, the crowd was buzzing.

But as a predictor of the Flames season? Largely irrelevant.

I think the Jack Adams customarily goes to the coach of the worst team to make the playoffs in a given year. Traditionally followed the next season by underperforming with a team that now has playoff expectations, and getting fired.

So yes, honestly, I think it’s entirely plausible this team sneaks into the playoffs, and if they do, then Huska deserves the award by that criteria.

Would be nice if we could be a little more even-keeled and not necessarily fire him after next year, but who am I to stand in the way of NHL tradition?

A touch early for this discussion. I mean in January we have enough body of work for a conversation.

With a 6 game sample, I gotta say they are both the absolute front runners.

Also nobody every in the history of any individual trophies has ever won them in the first 6 games. so I don't even know what being the front runner right now means? 6% chance instead of the average 3%? I don't know.

Conroy has definitely thrown himself in the running now more than anyone anticipated before the year started. Just goes to show maybe he knows things
