Flames Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers BOA 6:00pm TV: SN, TVA - RADIO SN960

News Roundup!

Flames Post-Game: Flames battle to home-opener win over Flyers

We’ll say this for the 2024-25 Calgary Flames: they’re not boring.
The Flames scored first and never trailed in a surprisingly feisty 60 minutes of hockey in their home-opener against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flames kept battling (and scoring) en route to a 6-3 victory over the Flyers.

PREVIEW: Oilers vs. Flames

It’s time to lock in.

With the Calgary Flames visiting Rogers Place on Sunday for the Battle of Alberta, the Oilers will be looking to improve in all facets of their game to prevent themselves from starting the new campaign 0-3 after losing their second straight on Saturday to the Chicago Blackhawks by a 5-2 score.

Off to another slow start, Oilers look to enter win column vs. Flames

“Obviously, you give up five and six (goals), you’re not going to outscore that most nights, but at the same time, we have been around the net. I guess it’s a matter of battling and finding a way to put it in,” Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins said.

Ah yes, good old moneypuck early season odds. Makes total sense that a team starting 0-2 and outscored 11-2 will drop to a mere 11.5% chance of winning the Cup if they lose tonight.

Ha Puppet Guy. Another brilliant one. Go Flames. Although I expect the refs will do everything to help the Grease out. You can do it!

I would almost rather be 1-2 with a win against the greasey group, than 2-1 with a loss to them.

Hope they light up Skinner and wreck him into never being a factor again because if that team doesn't get above average goaltending, they are below average club that will need to revert to the non-sustainable way of winning 5-4 every night.

Pg nice one!

Oilers have more exploitable weaknesses than last season and when they don’t score…they self destruct. That’s what I’m looking for tonight!

Will we see a jersey toss if the Oilers are getting thumped tonight?

At some point the Oilers will have a game that they snap out of it and the parade planning will be back on, just hope it's not tonight.
Early goals to get the Oilers in panic mode where they start triple shifting McDavid and Draisital to, at very least, draw some penalties.

I wonder if maybe we see Coronado and even Barrie being the second game of the b2b.

Oilers Stanley cup game seven re-do tonight. Can’t expect those bums to lose again can we?

Has the roster been announced yet? Wonder if Coronato and/or Barrie get into the line up tonight. Would make sense for a short back-to-back game but I can’t think of anyone that deserves to be taken out of the lineup for them right now. Honzek looked really good last night so I don’t think Coronato would take his place at this point. While the flames have had some struggles on the defensive side, all their defensemen have, for the most part, looked solid and have had a positive impact on the game.
