lanny The 24/25 Calgary Flames Vs the History Books.

Ryan Huska is currently 19 of 21 in all times wins as a Flames coach with 38. If the Flames win 24, he passes Bill Peters to become 15th.

Dan Vladar has 35 wins making him 18 of 58 Goalies who’ve played for the Flames. He is only 13 wins from passing Mike Smith.

Dustin Wolf with 8 wins is tied for 29 of 58 he is 7 wins from passing Joni Ortio.

In 10 games, Michael Backlund will become only the second flame to play 1000 games for the team. With that historic number in sight, another 39 point season would place him at 6th all time in points passing Nilsson and Suter but falling just short of Johnny Gaudreau.

Rasmus Andersson has the next most points as a Flames with an even 200 which is good for 44th all time. Another 39 point season would have him pass Phil Housely (37th) on the Flames record chart.

Nazem Kadri has 53 goals as a Flame which is 68th, another 29 goals season would put him past Doug Gilmour ( 45th).

Blake Coleman has 7 short handed goals as a Flame which is tied for 18 among the the 142 Flames who have ever done it. 10 in a season would tie him with Backlund who is 2nd with 17. One would tie him with some greats like Peplinksi, Titov and MacMillan.

Martin Pospisil has 109 PIM. 164 all time for the Flames, and that wasn’t even a full season! A full year and he might pass loveable Garnet Hathway who amassed 219 in 4 years. Good for 73rd all time.

This begs the question, who are the two coaches worse than Huska?

I think there are actually four:

Al MacNeil had just 4 wins in between Greg Gilbert and Darryl Sutter in 2003.
Guy Charron had just 6 wins as head coach in 1992 after Doug Risebrough stepped down.
Don Hay won 23 from 2000 to 2001.
Geoff Ward won 35 from 2019 to 2021.

I'm assuming the stat above doesn't count MacNeil and Charron as they didn't coach full seasons.

Huberdeau is 20 assists away from 100 as a Flame.

Thing is - that’s total wins and Huska had one season. Percentage wise might look different.

McNeil also served as head coach in 3 seasons from 1979-1982 (one with Atlanta) so he's got a lot more wins in total.
Not sure why they didn't count Charron though.

Everyone knew he was capable of 100 assists!

In 2.5 seasons...
