I mildly disagree here with decision. Barrie fine ( I suppose) to bring us to 7 but play may still be Hanley as an 8th, although I suppose a 14th Forward (I could understand), or 3rd G (shudder) may still be the plan

barrie only makes sense if you're trading Andersson.

I was thinking the opposite, every team has a limited number of NHL spots and he is a 24 year old with limited NHL time. Most teams have a Solovyov type player who means more to the fans of their team than anyone else.

Dominque and Delia there if teams are looking for a short-term goaltending fix.
Every year on waivers there are players who you think won't possibly clear and then they do; the reality is usually teams have one or more of those guys already, and they aren't looking to add more.

I really don't see him getting claimed. Teams putting in a claim have to be prepared to keep him on an NHL roster. If he's not good enough to be on the roster of a projected bottom 5 team, which team is going to look at him as a better fit than what they have right now?

Keep in mind, any team claiming Solovyov would have to waive him to put him in the AHL, so it's just not happening. Perhaps Flames made this move in order to keep a player that doesn't have to clear waivers in the NHL?
