I don't get the Rooney love with this staff.

Hunt was such a darling last year I'm kind of surprised (pleasantly) he isn't in the mix.

I mean he wasn't bad, he was just sort of...there.

Morton is the only prospect centerman who challenged Rooney for the 4th line spot

Flames have at the moment, notwithstanding Zary and Sharangovich or Pospisil, two NHL caliber centers. Rooney on 4th line C make 3....barely. easy to see why they keep him around.

Bummed about Brzustewicz . Dude definitely did enough to start the season with the big club. Ah well, I don't think he'll be down on the farm for long at all.

would be a nice narrative if Honzek and Klapka both made the team. realize not much of a hill to die on but still not sure I'd waive Pelletier (or Schwindt for that matter) to keep not only Hanley but to have Honzek munch popcorn- if anyone needs to play its him

the list of 3rd round D to skip the AHL and play at 19 is likely pretty small. he won't be harmed by time in that league

A big deal will be made of the opening night roster, but I fully expect Coronato, Morton, Bru, Gru, Solo, and Pelletier (if he is not lost on waivers) to play in the NHL this season. Likely others as well

I won’t be surprised if the flames look at the waiver wire to pick up a depth center as well.

I bet Honzek will get sent down on the last day of cuts and Pelletier take his 13th forward spot. He is just being rewarded for a good camp. No reason for him to play 4th line minutes when he could play 20+ in the A and maybe even play center

Signing Barrie to be extra D? I guess ok, could be lots of movement in and out of the lineup. But I’d hate to expose Pelletier so they could keep extra defensemen who really are barely NHLers.

From those lines, I'd rather Morton as 4th line center than Rooney, unless they think he should be playing higher in the lineup?

Obviously depends on loads of variables but maybe at some point in the near ish future we can see this?

Honzek - Kadri - Sharangovic
Huberdeau - Pospisil - Coronato
Zary - Backlund - Coleman
Lomberg - Morton - Klapka
Pelletier, Rooney

Mantha, kuzmenko traded for assets, Rooney and Pelts rotate in and out depending on center vs wing need.

Honestly, if Coleman is willing to move and the deal is good, I'd slot Kirkland, Frk there.

Guys that aren't or shouldn't be moved imo only include Huberdeau, Backlund, Kadri, Sharangovic, Lomberg. More than enough veteran presence up front imo

Looks like Pelts in going to be placed on waivers.
I think MTL will claim him given their run of injuries.
