He and his wife, Vlada, just had their first son on July 20th. An interesting tidbit is that their son was born an hour before Ilya's birthday.
Aside from that I think I read that he stayed in Calgary in one of the Sharangovich interviews, but don't quote me on that because I could be misremembering.
As far as Calgary, and Conroy, I assume that they gave out the qualifying offers, and are waiting for the players to flinch first as training camp nears. Meanwhile Pelletier, Solovyov, and Schwindt are trying to negotiate higher AHL salaries. That or those contracts could simply sit in a drawer, until all 3 are signed and announced on the same day.

What does Conroy think he's doing? We cant afford to be pillaging most of Eastern Europe!! Doesn't he know how much letters COST?!?!?
Has he never played SCRABBLE?!?!
Conroy is a Scrabble champ. Just look at him stocking up on all the Z's. Zary, Kuzmenko, Honzek, Brzustewicz, Zarubin… He's going to corner the market!
Anybody in the NHL who wants to buy a Z will have to come to Calgary, and pay through the noze.
