The Pittsburgh Penguins called a press conference to introduce the new Penguins to the media and Fans. Introduced were Mathieu Dandenault, Martin Rucinsky, John Madden, Ales Hemsky and Ilya Kovalchuk.
Chris Quigley Western Star: Ilya, how do you feel about being shipped around so much this year?
Ilya Kovalchuk: Well I think I am the best young player in the game, Who wouldn't want me as part of their franchise. I plan to keep doing what I do. I plan to score lots of goals here in Pittsburgh and with Peter Forsberg centering me I don't see that as a problem.
Greg Young PowerHouse Magazine: John there is a lot of pressure being put of you to help the Pens weak PK unit. Do you think you can help cut down the number PP goals against?
John Madden: Well I have always been looked upon to bring a solid defensive game to the ice. I think that if we can find a system that works for us, stick to it we will see less PP goals being scored on us.
Dave Penny Florida GM: Ilya, How about coming to Florida to play?
IK: No thanks I vacation in Miami for a week every offseason, by the way you wheel and deal I think that is longer then I would last playing hockey.
Brad Vaters, A&W Canada: Ales, you have been called a future star in this league, what do you think of being a role player of a deep Penguins team? And will you promote our burgers?
Ales Hemsky: I think that being a role player will help me develop to the maximum of my potential. I don't mind having the pressure that comes along with being a top line player and I feel that pressure will come as I get more and more icetime. I think Pittsburgh is a great team and I think I will be a big part of the future success here. And no, no I will not promote your burgers.
Junior Daley Georges Lake Tribune: Dandy it is well known that you are capable of playing both defense and wing. What do you think your role will be with this team?
Mathieu Dandenault: Well right now I am playing on defense, I think that is where I will be staying Most of the season, unless I am needed to move up front in case of injuries. I am ok no matter what role I am wanted in.
