Kind of surprising that he first year is 2-way. Maybe their thinking is if the big club is as bad as some think it may be better off for him to play for the Wranglers?

Wow that's a great deal. Thought would be a one way deal forsure. Just year one but still amazing work by Conroy.

I was hoping for a 3 year, 1MM AVV for Wolf. Anything works though. Surprised that it's a 2-way deal in year 1.

Seems like a rather simple contract. Exciting time for Wolf.
We all collectively have to keep the expectations in check over these next two years on this deal. The Flames are not a very good team on paper, particularly defensively - so goalie expectations should be tempered. It'll be a good opportunity for Wolf to gain some NHL experience, but it's going to be rough.
This contract should be looked at as a developmental contract. See if he can get acclimated to the NHL game and continue to develop. Individual statistical success looks unlikely for any goalie at this point of the team building journey.

He could play there either way. But the much lower pay is motivation for him to stay up.

Is the contract waiver exempt?

Wolf himself is waiver exempt in 24/25 - status is tied to player, not contract.

Virtually identical to what Daws got in NJ, although Daws is expected to spend the year in Utica.

Which I think makes Dustin Wolf's contract better than the Daws contract, because Wolf is better than Daws.
Wolf is elite at the AHL level, Daws is not.
Wolf has played 18 NHL games with an .896, and Daws has played 41 games (on a better team) and has an .894
It's cool to have Wolf.

Nice, think one of our CP insiders mentioned this last week?

He's gonna be one of if not the main reason I tune into games this year.
Excited to follow his development. I just hope he doesn't get too down on himself when the defense inevitably hangs him out to dry.

I would assume he’s still an RFA after this deal?
