Well, that is clear.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

He might find that the best spot for him is still Calgary. If not, I wish him well anyway. Maybe a change of scenery will help put his troubles further behind him.

I wouldn't be surprised if once he sees his value on the market, he circles back to the Flames with an opportunity to to match.
His market value is really difficult to put your finger on given all the circumstances. He missed a lot of time and no one knows if he will miss time again in the future. He looked good when he came back, but not quite as good as he looked before the absence. He also looked great playing with Tanev, but not so great playing with other partners.
I can see why negotiations would be difficult for this one.

I think this is just Craig covering his bases that the negotiations will go past July 1st. I still expect Kylington back.

Doesn't really sound like he's definitely signing elsewhere, just that nothing is done yet. I wouldn't be surprised if he re-signs here after he sees what the other offers are.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see something get done before noon on Monday.

Totally his right to do so.
Flames could have prioritized signing him before we reached this point

His right to do so but I'm not a fan of the lack of loyalty after the Flames supported and did what they could.

Good for both sides.
Flames offering X, he wants Y
He may or may not get Y
If he does, good for him.
If he doesn't I expect he will be back

I'm surprised by this. I figured this would be an easy deal to get done, given everything the two groups have gone through together. I wonder if it's a contract issue or Kylighton just prefers a change of scenery for whatever reason.

I find it a bit strange just because he's 27 and he's only really had 1 good season and then was off for a year and a half. How much does he think he's going to get?
