Were these roles (Amateur Scout - West and Amateur Scout - Finland) vacant prior to today? I don't imagine that's the case for the West role?

I'm assuming Tukonen and Conroy crossed paths in LA? unless that is just a coincidence.

Maybe briefly at training camp, but it looks like Tukonen played his first NHL game a month after Conroy was traded back to Calgary.

Tukonen was a 1st rd 11th OA pick by LA in 2004.

Played a total of 5 games in the NHL. Zero points

He's not part of the development staff.

All he has to do is avoid recommending prospects that remind him too much of himself.

I believe the Flames now have 4 European scouts, one based in each of the 4 power countries

Adding more scouts, and increasing the familiarity with (European) prospects will pay dividends for this rebuild.

It's a great decision for the organization. Now the Flames just need to keep investing in the pro scouting department. They made some pretty savy acquisitions last year: Sharangovich, Kuzmenko, and Miromanov. As well as some decent waiver claims in: Greer, Pachal, and Hanley. Okhotiuk was a bit of a miss IMO.

Yeah this is the time to employ as many scouts as possible considering how important the upcoming drafts will be for this organization.

I remember being enchanted with Tukonen in his draft year. I think he fell a bit - I recall him being ranked very highly. Big right-shooting RW with skill.

A good reminder on how much of a crap shoot almost any prosect is.

Anyway, welcome to the org, guys!

Assuming that nobody has departed, this gives them Tukonen in Finland, Grebeshkov in Russia, Akerblom in Sweden, and Neuhauser in Czechia/Slovakia.
