wranglers Brett Sutter retires after 17 pro seasons

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...ames-1.7264257

1,090 AHL GP, good for 4th all-time. Seems like only yesterday dad was shipping him off to Carolina. Admirable career. Discuss.

What are the odds he gets into coaching?

And if he does, what are the odds that he one day coaches the Flames?

Unfinished Business 2: The Next Generation

Aren't the Wranglers looking for an assistant?

Yes, he's taking that position.

I think that was always the plan, although when his dad got the boot I thought maybe it wouldn't happen.

He was named an assistant coach of the Wranglers immediately upon announcing his retirement as a player....so pretty good.

Best news of all though is that this development means the continuation of Chris Sutter Time at Wranglers games.

Oh geez, I guess I could have opened the link.

I mean, 17 years of pro-hockey experience probably qualifies you. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a great coach. Take the good parts from Darryl, but apply more modern techniques and sensibilities.

Congrats! Love that we have this legacy of sutters with the team for so long.

Wonder if he has a little of his dad's coaching style?

Ron's son, Riley is in the Capitals organization. Next season will be his 6th pro season, all with the Hershey Bears (who just won their second straight Calder Cup).

Brett Sutter becomes a Wranglers assistant coach? Sooner or later he will be promoted to the Wranglers head coach, then Flame assistant coach, the Flames head coach, Flames GM..... Give it 20 years...

Le sigh.

I could genuinely see it happening.

He was one of two former Quad Cities players still playing. That leaves Adam Cracknell on his own until he retires.
