I certainly haven't given up on Honzek, and I still think Pelletier is an NHLer, but they both had rough years, and Brzustewicz is on an undeniable arc.

Brzustewicz.
Do we have the most stacked prospect defensive group in the league?
Parekh
Brzustewicz
Grushnikov
Poirier
Mews
Morin
Solovyov
Kuznetsov
Jurmo
Hurtig
I know I am missing a few, but these are the most notable ones, especially the RHD on this list.

Though to ignore Brzustewicz D +1 numbers.
It easily puts him ahead of anyone else drafted in 2023.

Tough one, but I went Honzek. I love Brz and his talent is undeniable, I just feel like after drafting Parekh and Mews it would be more beneficial to the organization for Honzek to pop, which he certainly has the toolset to do.
Here's for hoping he has a strong and healthy D+2

Is that a relevant factor when ranking prospects?
Anyway, I voted Brzustewicz here. The next round will be very interesting. I think there are reasonable cases to vote for any of Pelletier, Honzek, Gridin, Basha, and Stromgen.

Went Gridin, which is probably wrong and even a week ago I would have said he's about 8 on my list. not sure I can even defend it yet, but I'll probably be voting him for the next few days so I'll come up with a reason at some point

Sorry, worded that poorly. What I meant is that if both prospects develop correctly, Honzek has an easier path to L1 minutes based on our prospect pool depth and current roster. Brz could get stuck on L2
I get it shouldn't sway my vote too much, but I just couldn't ignore that.

I am voting by potential, not readiness. Bryz was the easy choice here, Honzek next, then it gets tougher. I am not nearly as high as Pelletier as some here, I don't even think he will be part of the Flames future. I just see him topping out as a bottom 6 energy guy. I have quite a few prospects ahead of him, I hope he proves me wrong though.

I went HB. At worst he might be a 3rd pairing PP QB. Seems like he has a lot of potential.

Brz's +1 Draft year can't be ignored. In a re-draft he goes top 20.

I went with Brz at the end of the day. His trajectory from D+0 to D+1 was immense. Even if Parekh develops into the stud PP1 QB of the team in the future, there's still something to be said about point producing top-4 defencemen that can run the PP2 which is something that seems very reachable for Brz due to his hockey sense. I get Rasmus Andersson vibes from Brz.
The great news is that I was thinking long and hard about this one as Gridin, Honzek, Stromgren, Pelletier, and even Basha all have cases to make for this pick.

Tops in USHL scoring with his hockey IQ, character and skill. A case can be made here for Gridin. High ceiling.
Brz this round for me though. Terrific 2023-24 OHL season that must be rewarded!

I only attended one Wrangler playoff game and, in that one, Morton and Schwindt were Wrangler stand outs not named Wolf. And they haven't even entered the conversation yet.

So the Flames possibility have 14 star players? What’s your definition for star?
