Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2024 - Round 1
Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!
As per usual ...
1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to mid to late August
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

40 names on the list and I counted 29 that are at least interesting to me ... not star level, not guaranteed to make it, but interesting.
I went Parekh in round one over Wolf for upside.

I am usually blah about the prospect pool yet still enjoy ranking them, but really excited this year! lots of good options and discussion points!
For me it starts with Parekh and then the real discussion starts.

On the flip side, Wolf is a (semi) proven quantity and known NHL goalie. Wolf for me.

Why is Wolf still on the list?
He has already made it to the bigs...

18 total NHL games.
I don't think he's established enough to exclude him.

There's only one true blue chip prospect on the board IMO. Parekh, and then the rest.

I went with Wolf. Parekh is exciting for sure. But he is likely a few years away from the NHL and he still has a lot of proving to do. Wolf still is our starting goalie next season and has the potential to be a star.

Parekh with the higher floor and franchise potential over Wolf. No slouch to Wolf, the goaltending position has always been a hard position to have any kind of leeway. They’re too volatile.
Parekh at 1 and Wolf at 2 for me.

Parekh and it’s not even close, and that’s including Wolf. Wolf is great but goaltenders are way too unpredictable and volatile.

Parekh and Wolf are both A level prospects with star potential. But Wolf is a goalie, which carries a lot of uncertainty, and he has size issues. Parekh is an easy choice, IMO.
(and I would put Zary 2nd)

Yeah, I can only stay interested while the guys have some reasonable chance of making it. Often that is only a dozen or so, but this year's list cruises into the 20s with guys that have a good chance of seeing, or already have seen, the NHL.
Very exciting.
And another large crop coming next year - likely including someone that will be in the conversation with Parekh

Parekh tops for me and it’s not close. Positional value, game breaking skill, brings the tools I’m not sure this franchise has ever seen in a prospect on D.

Parekh takes this one in a landslide. Wolf probably takes the next round in a landslide as well, and then it becomes really interesting.
I have Parekh and Wolf as the only two pieces that I would consider part of the future core this team will try to win with. There could be some other core pieces already drafted that just develop better than expected (I would bet on this actually), and the rest is yet to be drafted. These are (so far) the first 2 blue-chippers moving forward.
What Wolf has done is amazing. If he was 2-3" taller, he would probably be regarded as a top 10 prospect regardless of position. I think he will have his ups and downs this year, but I am sure that by the end of the season, he will be looked upon as part of the future core moving forward.

No kidding....and if we are being honest, he has been really good in a few games but equally as bad in others.
No where near enough sample size to determine if he is NHL material or not.

Similar to other posts, it was between Wolf and Parekh for me
Both have decently high upside. Parekh with a higher upside and lower floor. Wolf has a higher floor but maybe not as high a ceiling as Parekh. I ended up going with Parekh though
