Nope. Not in the foreseeable future anyway. They'll have to go through all the measures that any other country would have to, including replacing the Pound.

Anti-incumbency movement, the Tories have been in power since 2010. The real question will be if Labour can stay in power for the next election.

Closer working and cooperation with Europe is on the cards but reversing Brexit won’t happen. There is no stomach within the EU for a UK application, and the entry criteria would involve ditching the UK currency.

Yeah. Basically a ~14 yr cycle.
Before that it was a similar landslide with Blair in 97. They'll stay in power basically because regardless people's memories of the Tories will still be fresh.

Reform (aka Brexit Party) looking at 13 seats.
SNP getting annihilated in Scotland.

Which makes Brexit look even stupider. The UK had so many special privileges that other EU members didn't get, and it still wasn't good enough for them

The funny thing is, Labour's support isn't all that different from prior elections, it's just that the Conservatives' votes have tanked and bled to the Reform party. Labour is on track to have a smaller share than they did in 2017 and only a few points higher than in 2019.

I imagine we'll see the UK Conservatives move the right to recapture some of the vote, similar what we've seen in Canada in the '00s and recently under Poilievre. Particularly since this edition of the Labour party is pretty indistinguishable from the Conservatives in terms of policy, so they'll need to distinguish themselves somehow.

Boris and Farage thought it was a good idea for them, they didn't give a toss that it crushed the UK economy

It's not like the remaining Big 3 economies of the EU are doing all that great. Despite some jostling in the early years after the vote, the UK still remains ahead of France in terms of GDP but both have been surpassed by India as Western Europe continues to decline in importance.

I saw this as well. From everything that I heard pre-election, the Tories would be wiped out. That was true, but not because of some huge shift in popularity for Labour.

Other interesting tidbits with so many marginal parties. The communist party outperformed the Women’s party. The Monster Raving Looney Party did better than both.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
