I like this deal for the AVS. Good caphit, and excellent term. I can see him putting up 60-65P playing in COL.

Surprised at the low cap hit and term for a guy who has shaped up to be a legit #2 C. But I guess he figures he can put up big numbers on that roster and hit the jackpot with his next contract.

Great Contract and makes sense for the Avs window. This makes them very tough next year...maybe the Oilers won't be back next year

I would have expected something closer to 6.5 million, so this seems good.

Good deal for the Avs and their window to maximize Mackinnon between 28-32 years old.

Currently estimate salary expenditure on cap friendly is 92 million and change. Wonder if the Avs need any help eating some salary this year.

That number includes Nichushkin and Landeskog. With those two off the active roster, they will have over $10 million in LTIR space that they can use. So they don't have an immediate worry about the cap hit.

I doubt the Avs are worried about the actual cash either.

What probably hurts them most is that Drouin salvaged his career with a 56-point season and will be looking for a proper contract as a UFA. I can't see him signing another $825,000 deal to stay in Colorado.

So maybe they do need some help to free up cap, but no obvious remedies leap to the eye.

They need goaltending. We need these teams to fix some of the holes they had. What happened this can't happen again.

Georgiev was fine in the playoffs. They could use a new backup, but they could do a heck of a lot worse. There just aren't many elite goalies out there these days.
