Default Anyone watch "Canadian Gold" tonight?

It was on the CBC, and about Canadian comedy.

A bunch of stuff on SCTV alumni, and I found what Dave Thomas had to say about John Candy very touching. He was saying about how in the very early days John would be talking about Toronto and would say jokingly, "I'm gonna OWN this town." So they started calling him Johnny Toronto. THen years later when he was owner of the Argos, the old SCTV crew were all together at a game, and when John walked onto the sidelines, the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation. All the old gang looked at each other and knew that he really was Johnny Toronto.
Then Dave Thomas said, "There is nothing quite as special as knowing someone when they have a dream, and seeing them acheive that dream."

Those were my favourite parts of the show, the "before they were stars" part.

CBC does a lot of crap, but every so often they polish a gem.
