What are the implications of terminating the contract? They believe they have grounds to have it nullified?

He makes $4M this year (so no one would touch that). But if he becomes a UFA, someone will grab him for a $1M or so

This is the kind of character the Oilers like to load up on.

Something weird must have happened as he was having a somewhat decent season with 9 points in 16 games and they brought him in for leadership. The story on the weekend kind of indicated this may be coming. I assume they weren't getting the leadership from him that they thought they would?

They believe the he violated the terms of the standard players contract. Will be interesting if the NHLPA gets involved.

SOMETHING happened, because they removed him from the team.

Now they are terminating the contract, so they have some grounds.

Re: the rumor from a few days back, I sincerely doubt that is grounds for termination. Perhaps from the husband...

Kinda makes you believe the rumour. Wonder what the NHLPA does in response.

Also the irony of the Blackhawks terminating a contract for a morality clause is hilarious.

Not until after Vladar's mom has gone back to Prague.

The longer this goes on without clarification, the more people will assume that the rumour is true, or the actual violation is worse.

If the rumour is true, I doubt we will ever really find out.

Chicago likely has low tolerance for unbecoming conduct given their history.

This has to be an additional confirmation that the viral rumour yesterday is not what happened… don’t think they could terminate a contract on those grounds.

I’m sure it will go public with what he actually did. What are some examples of ways teams have terminated contracts? LA did it a couple times I think. Definitely did it with Richard’s contract when he was caught taking drugs across the border I think.
