Assuming he clears and is assigned to the Wranglers, it will free up $1.15 mil in full season cap hit for the Flames.

good for him
I know he isn't a fan favourite but he worked his ass off in the Summer and was great in camp. He will play hard for the Wranglers or the Flames if needed

As per their interviews today:
Flames Legend Kevin Rooney is not quite game ready for the Wranglers. I'd expect him not to play this next two game set, but travel on the upcoming trip, and possibly draw into the games.
Pelts might play this Thursday/Friday.
Kylington might play this Thursday/Friday just based on Wranglers roster moves.

Anyone claiming him would have had to put him on their NHL Roster and since he hasn't played a game since Preseason It was doubtful. It was actually a smart move to send him down before he was ready.
had they put him on a conditioning stint and then had to put him on waivers I don't think he would have cleared.
