Default WJC:RR Day 6. USA vs SVK 4AM. SWE vs FIN 6:30AM. CZE vs SUI 9AM. CAN vs GER 11:30AM

Final day of the Round Robin.

USA vs SVK - battle for first place in Group B. Both teams have a deep group of forwards. Should be a good game.

Terrible non-call means Sweden finishes 2nd overall and the US gets a free pass to the final.

Also makes Canada's path much tougher now.

Both Sweden and the US look lights out better than Canada.

It’s probably better Canada has the tougher road to gold as they need to earn it and play better. I think getting a free trip to the semis wouldn’t help them any.

I feel like the US is the team to lose it, they’re just dialled in something else.

If the coaches keep the same approach I agree Sweden do look better than us, but if we can actually play the good players more and the weaker players less I think we have a chance against Sweden.

The US? Meh they are lucky they got a sweetheart group with no good teams in it. They are less of a threat than the Swedes.

That’s what happens when you take Russia out of it. There’s no way to balance the groups.

The problem is they base the groups on the year before and with this tournament the teams change so much year to year.

But yes with Russia out and Finland having a down year not sure there are enough good teams to make the groups competitive.

I’m pretty sure they did that before though.

Usually if you split up Russia/USA/Sweden/Canada into two groups, it is pretty balanced.

Stupid question I’m sure. Have not had cable for a while. Can I just buy the tsn app and watch or do I need a cable package to watch?

You can sign up for the app independently of a cable package.

And the IIHF showing why it is a joke right off the bat.

Embarrassing group that should have nothing to do with hockey.

5 minutes and a game for hitting a guy shorter than you too hard. What a joke.

There's zero tolerance in international play for hits to the head. He definitely got him in the head on that hit.

I get that. That doesn't make it any less of a stupid call. Any player can lower themselves to get hit in the head and get a 5 minute powerplay out of it.

He didn't even put his head down that much. Geekie is just too big.

I'm not just talking about him. If it's zero tolerance ten any player can just make sure contact to their head is made.

That's why it's flawed. Intent on where you're trying to make contact should be taken into consideration. Geekie was just trying to knock him over.

Pretty sure that Germany could spot CAN a 5min major to start all three periods and Canada would be just fine...

I think this is still CAN's tournament - a little adversity in the prelims ALWAYS leads pure dominance.

A perfectly clean hit is 5 and a game but drilling a guy in the numbers 3 feet away from the boards is a 2 minute minor?

This is why the IIHF will always be a joke.

This is how the refs lose control of the game.

Just terrible consistency, those hits from behind have been called all tournament long… in fact 2 other ones were not even half as bad and got 5 and a game.
