Another power play goal by Honzek, Slovakia leads 2:1 after the first period.

Honzek draws a penalty on a breakaway.

Slovakia scores on the ensuing PP. 3-1.

I have not got to watch Honzek play but I have seen the highlights of his goals. Seems to have a good nose for the net. Can anyone speak to how his game has looked outside of his goals? Have any of his touted skills been on display like puck handling and puck protection? Would you say he’s been a dominant player at times? Or has he just been in at the right place at the right time putting up his points?

I have not watched either, but I recommend watching the extended game highlights, the one that is like around 13 minutes long. Shows some very nice plays from Honzek that are not in the normal highlights: good hit at 1:30, he had great speed on his breakaway at 4:48, great board work at 7:16, uses his size to get net front presence at 8:47, good entry with a pass at 10:10.

2-0 Swedes late in the second. Canada started strong but Sweden has taken control. Goalies are playing great. The Swedes have been great at breaking up odd-man breaks. Canada has flubbed a couple of breakaways.

Canada’s four second lines strategy not paying off so far today. Celebrini got moved up to line 1 and they’ve been generating since though. This game is not over!

This Canada team has lots of good players, but it doesn't really look like there are any real difference makers. Even Celebrini doesn't look like he's going to move the needle enough.

Haven’t followed this tournament or much of the juniors in general. Is this considered a weak Canadian team?

Canada is doing their best impression of the Flames today. Not shooting when they should and when they do it's right at the goalie.

It is a team missing a ton of what would be its top guys so it is defintely missing high end talent. It is a weak team overall that was supposed to have strength in the depth overall in the line-up.

Bedard, Fantilli, Wright, Korchinski, Luneau, Molendyk all out is a top line and what would be their top 3 or at least 3 of the top 4 defensemen. Every Canadian WJHC team misses out on talent but this year it has been worse with the NHL/injuries combo.

Canada was not expected to win this unless a large chunk returned.
I think they're in tough.

Man, Celebrini had an absolutely beautiful setup and whoever was on the opposite wing triple clutched the pass instead of getting the shot off quickly. Yikes.

Feels like the team could use an Andrew Cristall or Riley Heidt right about now...lots of strong 200ft players but lacking some offensive creativity

Just terrible passing and slow decision making. Nobody but Celebrini, Rehkopf and sometimes Geekie have a shooting mentality. Oh damn, Beck got crushed.
