Flames look for continued teamwork on visit to Avalanche

Calgary likely is feeling good following its 7-4 win over the Stars on Friday night. The Flames scored the last five goals, four coming in the third period, to improve to 4-1-1 in their last six games.

"We're a good team when we're all playing together," Flames winger Andrew Mangiapane said recently. "I like the way we've been competing. When we're working hard, that's when we're at our best. We have to do more of that."

Central Division-leading Avalanche face the Flames

TOP PERFORMERS: Mikko Rantanen has 12 goals and 13 assists for the Avalanche. Cale Makar has two goals and 16 assists over the past 10 games.

Andrew Mangiapane has five goals and eight assists for the Flames. Yegor Sharangovich has four goals and four assists over the last 10 games.

Beating the Avs on a B2B would be a great way to get back to .500

Wherever these reports are generated, they're utter nonsense. Completely disregard them.

All Calgary has to do is win in regulation. Then their chance of making the playoffs increases by 4 percentage points to 40.9%. When we were just told it would be 41.0% by beating Dallas in regulation.

All Colorado has to do is lose in regulation. Then their Cup probability will increase by 0.1%. Said nobody besides the creator of these scam reports.

We have better odds of winning the cup if we lose to them in regulation and not OT. Now that's something.

Exactly. I think these reports need to be omitted from the GDT, Cheese.

Certainly. Because the standings in March have nothing to do with what happens now.

Damn is it exciting to see the Flames rolling 4 lines capable of contributing and our 3rd defence pairing having the Z factor. Watching the Dallas game it looked like the Flames refused to change their game to defend the Stars and instead chose to push play and trade chances. It lead to sloppy turnovers for both teams and the goaltenders paid for it, but my read is the Flames believe in themselves and their system to carry play against anyone and are going to be aggressive regardless of exposing themselves to the vulnerability of having too many guys attacking.
More scoring from throughout the lineup please! Go Flames!

I think Markstrom plays better in this style of game as well. Some goalies need to be involved and their play elevates compared to the low event Sutter hockey.

Do we think Vladar gets the nod tonight?

I wouldn’t be upset if Vladar got the start and we managed a high scoring win.

That new rink will be ready in time for Makar to come home when he is a UFA.

MoneyPuck stats.
I agree at this time of year they are mostly nonsense, but it sure seems to create conversation.
I can drop these no issue.

I think keep them. Its cool to follow along with and yes its meaningless now but it does start to dial in later in the season.

Butterfly isnt taking into account that they calculate it based upon that single games effect. The odds are totally different today because now its not just our games results factored in but also all of the rest that played yesterday. So they're not as useless as its being made to sound.
