Boy, good thing they didn't do something truly worthy of sanctions like telling another team that one of their players hadn't submitted a no-trade list when he actually had.

Why do people keep comparing these sexual assaults to Ottawa losing a pick.
These are criminal matters, draft picks shouldn't be in the conversation, jail time should.

Bowman and Coach Q will probably never work in the NHL again.
Kind of shameful we gave Bowman interviews for the GM job

I'm not sure either. Instead of "the league sure messed up by doing nothing about the Chicago situation", the argument is "you should be able to get away with anything because the league did nothing to Chicago!"

Correct. Which is why an organization covering up and lying about serious, dangerous, heinous crimes should be punished into absolute oblivion.
That they got both championships and then high draft picks based off the work done by people who committed and covered up crimes is disgusting. That the league's response after finding this out was nothing is even worse.
This isn't even a "they should lose picks and get fined" thing anymore. The league should be fining the Wirtz family an amount to be determined, ejecting the Wirtz family from the league, stripping ownership and selling it off for them. Then assigning the fine equal to the sale amount and then donating that amount to causes related to helping sexual assault victims.

The NHL's DoPS is not part of the criminal justice system so it's pretty difficult for it to lay charges.

is this fact or rumor? Neither have been reinstated; why would they interview someone who can't be hired?

Criminal charges and sue them for all their money
It’s more serious than a pick that may become a bust

Well no but a team who had to fire 2 coaches for misconduct probably should steer clear of a guy who was fired for covering up a sexual abuse.

My point is your timeline might be wonky about who knew what when. So to run around passing judgement seems off.
Had all the Beach stuff come out before the Flames talked to him? I honestly don’t remember. You could be right I guess. Shrug.

Selling the team and giving the proceeds away? That would certainly not be allowable in law.
Now, the victims are entitled to sue and if they prove their case, are entitled to to enforce those claims. And the NHL could again levy fines. But they can't sell the team from out and under them.
I do believe they could force them to sell, although I expect that the people who knew (like Rocky) are all long gone. I think the Hawks decision to not bring back Toews and Kane was in part due to knowledge of these issues. I think the Hawks wanted to rid themselves of anyone connected to these matters.

The only reason he was available is because he left the Blackhawks after the story came to light.

Who gives a #### if it's allowable. The franchise oversaw the sexual assault of two young men and got no real punishment for it. The organization disgusts me.
How any one can wake up in the morning and say "I'm a Chicago Blackhawks fan" and not feel disgusted is beyond me.

Pretty sure that’s not how the legal system in North America works.
